So it's been a while since I last posted in the car section. That is because I have found a new love and I'm just enjoying my new found love for motorcycles.
But I still want to share something that happened to me a few months ago so that you guys can learn a few things from it.

You all know I bought a 2012 ZDX early last year. The car has been amazing so far. Infact it has opened my eyes to a few things I don't know about cars. One of which is that if you have a good car, you may forget the road to your mechanic's workshop 😂
Apart from oil change (which I only do every 3 months when the warning shows up) I don't do anything else.
That was my joy until about 3 months ago when I suddenly saw that a check engine light came up on my dash. I've never had check engine light so I immediately check the info screen and it says Check Emission System.
I literally panicked cos we all know how stubborn that problem is. Infact I've that problem on my other car and it never got resolved until now even though I threw a lot of money at it at one time.
So I went to a very big auto repair company here in Akure and complained about the issue. At first I was worried that it's something to do with the fact that someone bumped me from behind at a checkpoint recently but it shouldn't be cos I checked and there was no issue with my exhaust or bumpers.
Long story short, after an exhausting check with machines and physical inspections, they concluded that my catalytic converter is not there anymore. I laughed so hard cos if there is no catalyst in the car, I will have check engine light long before now. But the mechanic insisted that we take out the catalysts and check them. So I gave them the go ahead. My car people, you won't believe what we saw inside my catalytic converters

This people filled the catalyst with bokoharam wires. They filled it so much that it didn't trigger check engine light until it later did. And when my car was having slow pick up, I thought it was because of the cats. I didn't know it was because the exhaust can't breath well.
ONLY GOD CAN SAVE US FROM THIS PEOPLE.

I tried to trace who could have done it but I couldn't pinpoint anyone cos I don't remember ever leaving my car at a mechanic for so long for that to be done. That job must have taken two straight days to do!
At the end, I had to spend 450k on complete tokunbo catalytic converters cos somehow the car didn't work fine without them.

My conclusion is that they did this at the dealership where I bought the car. So my people, even if there is no check engine light or Check Emission System on the car you want to buy, don't conclude that the catalysts are okay. These people are pure evil.

cheesy

Are you sure that wasn't how you bought it?
And if it was done by someone else, the person is envying you.

I later concluded that it was probably done at the dealership where I bought it.

Catalyst converter can be changed in a space of 2 hours if done by expert. I can say this cause this matter keep popping up in most of the mechanic workshop around my area. Recently, a mechanic was caught at night trying to steal the catalyst converter of a car that was brought to a spray painter workshop close by. These mechanics that engage in this bad practice are evil and deserves nothing but jail time.

Yes a catalytic converter can be replaced in just 2 hours but it's impossible to remove it, empty it and fill it with those guard wires and return them back to the car in just 2 hours. That's almost a day job.
