I will advise u chose Bayelsa.

Nice place with oil money

Pls kindly ignore this. I thought same after school and actually worked my service to Bayelsa. I believed that since it was an upcoming state, with a relatively small population and lots of oil money allocation, it would be an ideal place to serve and start life afterward.
I in fact regret wasting one year of my life there. The liberality and hospitality of the people are the only positives one may get there. Other aspects of life especially economic are dead and you may leave there in no way better than you went.

Their grounds are not fertile, hence, food is costly. The people aren't industrious, salary sharing is the mainstay of their economy, the people are somewhat crass, you could be tossed to the remote island locations. There are many things that could go wrong.

While some may see opportunities in bad setups, I believe it's better to give oneself a head start in life.

Bayelsa should be doing really well but their governors and leaders aren't thinking.

Let's not bring ethnic colouration to the discussion.

Virtually every state/ community knows the usefulness of corpers and is ready to welcome them.

Best place to serve is in the rural communities. Most of these places have designated accommodation for corpers. Rural folks are friendly.

Cost of living is very cheap and if you are good, foodstuff won't cost you anything. Everyone knows everyone so security is hardly an issue.

As a teacher, you will see students who really need your knowledge. They may be eminent people tomorrow and will definitely remember you.

Professionals in health and engineering will have golden opportunities to gain experience. The market in my village was constructed by corpers years back.

Wherever you get posted, there is always something there - the food, the people, new friends, the weather, etc - that will make you want to stay back in the end.

My experience.

I'll personally advise you to use that service year to prepare your life. If better, escape from the country. Nigeria will not provide for you hereinafter.

If you feel the PPA is a success goal, tor, enjoy.

Yes.

Where they don't, they'll increase your pay. But usually they do. They're mandated to.

Not in the FCT ok, most NYSC members stays at Nasarawa and other villages within Abj and not in Abj. Those who stay in Abj have relatives or paid heavily for it.
Those are individual options.

Accommodation is provided by PPA. You have the choice to take it or not. That's NYSC requirements.

If for any reason your PPA refuse to provide accommodation, you've the right to call for rejection or be reallocated by LGI by State cord approval.

Look, there are rules to these things. Don't be exploited for no reasons. NYSC is a scheme that gives corps members upper hand. Perhaps the only truly functional organisation in Nigeria.

For career opportunities, cost of living and accomodations Lagos is the best for corp members and the oraimo freepod 4 is the perfect companion to leave behind the stress and worries that comes with the struggle.

Why do u say so
1. Cost of living is expensive. Food, rent, transportation etc is expensive and it's difficult to survive on 33k allowee.

2. Zero opportunities due to the lack of good jobs. Most corpers posted there are to teach in schools.

3. High level of corruption. This makes the few opportunities available to be for those who have money to pay

Good evening, you spoke well but it's not what you think and wrote up here ok.

NYSC headquarters is beside Custom headquarters and FRSC headquarters alll at Wuse Zone four. Last year, some NYSC members were rejected at their PPA because there was no vacancy despite though they had their posting letters.

I'm not talking about accommodation now, here in FCT, most corp members search for PPA. Custom headquarters don't have accommodation for corp members, a friend who served there payed 850k (self-con) at Wuse zone 5. This is not hearsay, National Assembly, EFCC at Wuse 2 and most government offices at the heart of Abj don't have accommodation. Corp members pray that thay would be accepted and not even accommodation.

Most Corp members serving in these places drive; definitely they are from rich and influencial families. PPA's are to provide accommodation according to NYSC but FCT is entirely a different place. Most places you see accommodation for Corp members are in schools; I served in the North East, there was no accommodation, i and other Corp members paid let alone FCT Abj.

If you live in Abj, you won't argue on issue of accommodation here, thank you.

Ogun state used to be a very nice place to serve. Nice camp. Things were a bit cheap when I was there and even though we were told so negative things about the state, we never experienced any. All thanks to God.
With the increase in hardship, ritual killings and cult related issues in the rural areas, I don't know if it's still ok...

Akwa Ibom is also good but I heard it's expensive.

Things are really expensive here now lol
