Have you heard of the term 'language pair?'
A language pair means the language used in the original document and the language it will be translated into. In simple terms, it is the source language and the target language. German-to-English or Chinese-to-French are examples of language pairs.

Translation service providers often offer services in their own set of language pairs. Some specialize in a handful of languages, while other translation companies work with 50 or more language pairs. Some other agencies offer a combination of popular languages and other minority languages.

Top five language pairs
Most of the demand for translation involves English paired with different languages. The lists of top English language pairs with the highest demand are:

English > Spanish
English > Chinese
English > French
English > German
English > Russian

Looking at the target languages, you’ll notice that they are spoken in large and developed countries. These are the Countries where multinationals are either doing import and export trading or operating their local offices, subsidiaries, or Students migrating to study or individuals migrating to live.
