IPOB Declares Sit-at-home On May 30 To Honour Civil War Heroes by gidgiddy: 5:41am On Apr 13, 2023
May 30 every year has been observed by pro-Biafra agitators and civil war veterans as a memorial day for those who died during the 30 months civil war that reportedly claimed no fewer than three million lives. It is also a day now set aside to remember all those killed in all Biafra struggle in Nigeria.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) asked the residents of the South-East to observe a sit-at-home on May 30, 2023, to honour the “fallen heroes”.

May 30 every year has been observed by pro-Biafra agitators and civil war veterans as a memorial day for those who died during the 30 months civil war that reportedly claimed no fewer than three million lives. It is also a day now set aside to remember all those killed in all Biafra struggle in Nigeria

However, IPOB in statement on Tuesday, by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, said the sit-at-home on May 30 is “to honour gallant men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to leave as a people.”

According to the statement, “We the global movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to announce to all Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of Biafra freedom across the world that May 30, 2023, is Biafra Heroes Day.
“It is a special day set outside to remember our fallen comrades and those who paid the ultimate price for the liberation of Biafra in 1967-1970 and beyond.
“Though Nigeria State removed history from schools and national discourse so that the descendants of Biafra will no longer remember and honour our heroes, IPOB leadership refused to let the labour of our heroes go in vain.

“Therefore, fellow Biafrans, this 30th May 2023 is another sacrosanct day to remember our fallen heroes, heroines and comrades who died in defence of our land and for the birth of the Biafra Nation.

“In line with our culture and respect for our fallen heroes, IPOB has declared the 30th of May, 2023 a sit-at-home in the entire Biafran territory to commemorate the deaths of those murdered for Biafra Independence and freedom."

It however, enjoined IPOB members to organise and observe that day in any form each country, zone, unit considers best. "IPOB leadership advise all to maintain peace and order during the event.

“During the commemoration ceremonies, 3 minutes of silence should be observed for the fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price from 1967-1970 till date.”

Did the residents of the South East ask for "sit at home"?
For those in the South East who would prefer to go to work or school on that day, will they be free from harassment or assault?
For the sake of the economy, some events may be remembered without "sitting at home".

At least obedient will have another day to celebrate the swearing-in of Peter Obi as a president of social media and prisoner from the UK detention while the people of Nigeria will celebrate the swearing-in of Tinubu as the president of Nigeria on May 29th.

you reminds me of Ojukwu hiding in his bunker whilst he sent his people out on a "chicken run" with WWIl rifles to confront the might of the federal troops.

After losing 3 million souls, he finally left his underground car park he called “ojukwu bunker” where he and his toy soldiers had been feeding fat at the expense of his vulnerable folks who were dropping dead like flies, from hunger & kwashorko, in the middle of the night like a quintessential coward,he flee in exile to Abidjan disguised in his wife attire lol.
