It was a beautiful solemnization of love as Austin Chidiebere Ojiego (popularly known as Urunwa) said “I Do” to his beautiful heartthrob, Oluchukwu Okwuduba, amidst fanfare and funfair.

Held yesterday at the St. Mathew's Catholic Church, Ebenator, the event was convivially wrapped up with the traditional marriage rite, at the bride's house, in Ụmụnnama village, Ebenator.

In his homily, an indigenous priest in the community, Rev. Oscar Nonso Igweh, noted that love, patience and understanding are the bedrock for successful marriage, even as he urged the couple to invite and always involve God in their marriage and family affairs, to build a successful home.

Citing Colossians 3:12-17, he explained that sacrament of matrimony involves both human activities and divine activities, and further stressed that marriage has been in existence from time immemorial, and has remained a common practice in every part of the world today.

He eulogized the groom as a hardworking and entrepreneurial young man, and highlighted the various things he has achieved as a focused young man, including being the first and only person to have established a functional computer centre in Ebenator Community.

The Catholic priest, who decried the rate of divorce in the society today, also urged the couple to be very supportive of each other, while also advising their parents to help the marriage succeed.

The conjugal mass was also witnessed by the Parish Priest of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Ebenator, Rev. Fr. Francis Anene; the Parish Priest of All Saints Parish, Ebenator, Rev Fr. John Nzowu; the Parish Priest of St. Camillus Chaplaincy College of Health Science, Nnewi, Rev. Fr. Paul Tochi Ebubedike.

Exchange of marital vows, signing of the marriage register, and prayer for the couple formed parts of the major highlights of the event.

In their votes of thanks, the newly-weded couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ojiego appreciated everyone who supported them in one way or the other, both during, before, and after the event; even as they thanked God for the success of the wedding and traditional marriage ceremonies, which, they attested, have ushered them into a new stage of life.

In their separate remarks, the parents of the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Boniface and Regina Ojiego, and Mrs. Virginia Okwuduba hailed the union, and congratulated the new couple, while also praying God to make the marriage a successful one in all ramifications.

The MD/CEO of the Naira Rice, Comrade Arinze Omenwa; the Labour Party candidate for Nnewi South Constituency II in the 2023 general election, Hon. Jerome Ifeanyi Igwe, among other dignitaries, were also present at the event, alongside friends and allies who came from different parts of the country and beyond.

By his marriage, Urunwa, who was the wish of every lady, has aptly settled with the chosen one, and consequently left the clique of bachelorhood, after few years of felicitous suspense.
