The Vice-chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof Sunday Elom, has inaugurated a Committee on Students’ Grades Verification meant to promote and entrench quality assurance in the academic activities of the institution.


While inaugurating the Committee, the Vice Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Romanus Ejiaga noted that the assignment was a serious one and that members of the committee were carefully selected,; charging them to participate actively in the functions of the Committee to achieve the goals of the university.
He stressed that the students’ grade verification exercise should be seen as a quality assurance process that would help the university attain its academic goals, adding that the report of the Committee would be used for improvements and/or in support of the existing evaluation scheme.
He equally assured the Committee of the Vice-Chancellor’s support and urged them to be committed to the success and speedy completion of their assignment.
Earlier while making his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Committee who also is the Director, Quality Assurance and Data-base Management, Dr. Lawrence Ogugua stated that members of the Committee were drawn from different departments and faculties that make up the university, noting that their work would cover the 2020/2021 academic session.


He further stressed the seriousness of the assignment, adding that it requires the total commitment and time of members to achieve the set- goals. He also highlighted the terms of references of the Committee to include: Assess the course specifications for various courses vis-à-vis NUC benchmark minimum academic standard (BMAS); scrutinize 1st and 2nd semesters examination question papers, marking schemes, marked scripts, graded sheets, students' project, external examiner's reports; interact with the Deans, HoDs, the course coordinators, course lecturers, and departmental examination officers on relevant issues and scrutinize any other relevant documents that may help make informed decisions and recommendations t University management.
