Maynard Manyowa, a “veteran polygamist” and UK-based Zimbabwean journalist, has gone public with one of his regrets. Maynard Manyowa revealed that he regrets practicing polygamy because he only loved one of them.


In response to a South African social media user’s claim that “polygamy is the future,” the journalist wrote; “As a former polygamist, I think that’s bad advice. You will never know peace. I was a lousy polygamist because I only loved one woman. And the other one wasn’t really my lover, but someone I didn’t want to suffer the shame of not being married. Biggest mistake ever.don’t do it

“If polygamy is great, it’s amazing. In fact, polygamy is all good until it’s all bad! I have enjoyed it for 10 years. Sweet!The only problem is that by trying to keep the woman I didn’t want, I almost lost the one I wanted. So maybe polygamy isn’t bad, I am.

“I have taken into account my particular circumstances and also my general weaknesses. But I enjoyed 10 years of it. But I did not miss the games. When you are number 1 the number 2 will makes you screw it up. Vice versa too.It is an abomination to peace.”


Manyowa was married to Mutsa Manyowa and later brought Boipelo Manyowa as second wife. He went on to introduce a third wife, Tsholofelo Manyowa.

The seemingly blissful union of the four turned sour last year when Mutsa reportedly sold some of Manyowa’s furniture, attempted to fraudulently change ownership of his house and allegedly sued him for domestic violence. In court, Musta was accused of selling more than $14,000 worth of Maynard Manyowa furniture.

Only if Yul had heard and heeded this advice, though, I understand he was warned by family members, but like a stubborn goat, refused. Polygamy may not be bad but the players. Our grandfathers were polygamists and in most cases, lived in harmony with their families. These days, a side chick is even better.

Your wealth will spread out and you end up not catering for the children adequately in terms of love, finance and affection which is necessary for a family...

Your wives start become jealous of themselves especially as they grow older and they get to realize your reason for marrying them (their beauty) is fading away. They see you as a threat to their happiness and they hate you.

Your children will end up not having adequate father care and they might end up being nuisances.

The very existence of your kids becomes threatened because of competition and jealousy amongst wives.

That's how this other relative of mine decided to practice polygamy by marrying a second wife after more than 10 years of him being married to his first wife.

He complained of how his first wife was lazy, apparently she hardly cooked, cleaned the house, and washed his clothes.. Her mother would be the one coming to the house to clean it. so he decided to get another wife.

He sponsored his second wife to college and build her a nice house, she studied nursing... He married her after her graduation and they already had two kids.. immediately she started working, she started having an affair with a certain medical doctor.

After he found out of his second wife's affair, he confronted her and she didn't even deny it.. she told him straight to his face that she only agreed to marry him because she wanted him to build her a house and that she'll never spend the rest of her life with a construction worker.. .. She even told him that the two kids they had were not his.

When he told his mother about what happened, the woman fainted and was rushed to the hospital.. The first wife was just enjoying everything in silence.
