Why is depression difficult to deal with? I have been depressed because I was body shamed, I am feeling low because people mock me that my breasts are not round enough, I don't look classy, have a little dick, etc. I felt worthless because I loved with my heart but he does not notice my effort and the list is endless as to the reasons why people get depressed.

Individuals with perfectionistic mindsets get depressed when their plans or ideas flop be it in relationships, at work, personal life, etc.

Depression is not only a feeling of sadness and dejection, it is a disorder that drains you of the energy, hope, and positive drive to make you feel better and possibly come out of that state eventually.
It also makes it difficult for one to garner the strength or desire to get treatment (therapy).

How do you deal with depression
According to research by Melinda Smith, M.A., Lawrence Robinson, and Jean Segal. Ph.D. in "Coping with Depression"
They mentioned that Self-help tips are most important when dealing with temporary states of depression.
When people or a person feels sustained/ intense feelings of sadness or loss of interest in activities, then professional help is required

Do note that depression is not a crime rather it is common in the world today even among the people living closest to you. However, it is the ability to control it and eventually recover from it that matters most.

Even if the depression is stubbornly persistent, it can be controlled by starting with small steps to recovery.

This article will discuss 7 steps that one can take to tackle depression.

1. Get involved with others
Staying in touch with family members, and friends, and engaging in social gatherings. Do not be shy to talk about your problem to friends and family members and also listen to them, it can help to reduce depression and make you feel light, like a burden has been lifted from your shoulders.
Positive nugget: your challenge is not the first in the world, there are people with worse situations so don't lose hope.

Volunteering to assist with little tasks at such gatherings, can take your mind away from the negative energy surrounding you compared to when you are alone.

2. Do the fun things you like
Just as depression causes fatigue, you need to engage in something you like doing that would help you maintain control over the feelings that come with depression.
Listening to music, seeing a movie, trying a new recipe, and reading a book, especially motivational books can slowly lighten up the mood.
Henry, a computer graduate said he plays computer games for a couple of hours to get his mind off the problem, however, he believes talking to someone pays more.

Confess good and positive things about yourself...although it might be difficult to believe, it makes you feel better about yourself and kind of brings you a ray of hope to pick yourself up from the dust and move on

3. Eat right and healthy
Alcohol has never been an option when dealing with depression. Some report that they forget their sorrows in a flash while under the influence however, it can lead to further depression, anger anxiety, and in excessive amounts high blood pressure, liver disease, colon cancer, etc.

Reducing stimulants such as caffeine, soda, and depressants and not skipping meals can help to improve your mood when you are depressed.

4. Re-live good memories
Believe me when I say this works wonders, no matter how small the event was for instance the day were told you are the best, you won the recognition of others at work, you helped solve a pressing matter. As you do this in no time, the feeling of loss and worthlessness fades away.

5. Try something different from the usual routine
Trying new activities like learning a new cooking skill, a new sport, or an art class would enable the brain to function efficiently. A part of the brain gets used up when one particular activity is repeated day in, day out. This can help to improve your overall well-being and relationship with others.

6. Make sure to get enough sleep, too much sleep, or too little can worsen the symptoms of depression. Getting eight hours of sleep is adequate, making it a routine to wake early and going about your routine will help you stay energized the whole day.

7. Exercising and spending time with nature are good ways to fight depression, with exercises, a relapse into a depressed state can be prevented. Taking a walk in the park, relaxing in the garden, and meditating can help improve your mood and overall mental health.

Take away
Depression is way beyond the feeling of sadness and guilt and some tips such as exercising, spending time doing what you love, thinking positively, getting an adequate amount of sleep, eating healthy and talking to someone about your problems, and helping others with little tasks can help you deal with depression.

Buy a supplement of vitamin B complex and use it daily

Some depression or anxiety are simply caused by depletion of some chemicals in your brains and Vitamin b12 would replenish it

Compulsory 8 hours sleep

Compulsory 30 mins work daily
