The number of scammers is on the rise. Every dog lover who intends getting a new dog or puppy MUST be careful.

If you're looking to purchase a new puppy/dog, it's important to be aware of puppy scammers who may try to take advantage of you.

Here are some tips on how to avoid puppy/dog scammers:

1. Do your research:

Before purchasing or adopting a puppy, do your due diligence and research reputable breeders, kennels or adoption agencies. Look out for what people are saying about them or reviews, ask for references, and verify their credentials.

Your research shouldn’t be about the breeder alone but on what you want. To avoid what getting into “what I ordered vs what I got”

2. Beware of unrealistic prices:

If a price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Puppy/dog scammers often offer puppies at unrealistically low prices to lure in unsuspecting buyers.

3. Don't send/transfer money anyhow:

Scammers often ask for payment via transfer. Avoid sending money until you have met the breeder, seen someone who knows him/her or confirmed that he is what he truly say he is; either in person and verified their legitimacy from someone you know very well.

4. Insist on seeing the puppy in person:

Scammers often use a their people’s photos or stolen images to advertise puppies. Insist on seeing the puppy in person before making any payments. —That is if you’ve not yet seen someone who can vouch for him/her and you’re just not comfortable…

5. Trust your gut:

If something feels off or suspicious, trust your instincts and walk away. A reputable breeder or or dog person should be transparent, trustworthy, and responsive to your questions and concerns.

By following these tips and staying vigilant, you can avoid falling victim to puppy/dog scammers.
