How Many Devices Can Be Connected To Elonmusk Starlink In Nigeria? by Melanin07(m): 10:02pm On May 01, 2023
I've been thinking of a crazy idea. But firstly I need to know how many devices can be connected to Elonmusk Starlink internet in Nigeria.

I read somewhere in Nairaland is 128 devices.

Here's my crazy idea.

I want to start a mini internet service provider in my community

Setup the starlink satellite. Setup a recurring subscription payment page/website of $5/monthly for anyone to join to be among to be among 128 devices I want to provide internet for using my Starlink.

In this way, I make a decent side hustle monthly and get others to pay to keep my Starlink running.

Gurus in the house, is this idea Feasible or illegal according to their terms of agreement?
Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated?

If this is possible, I will buy over 50 Starlink and start this Mini ISP.
That could be the start of something hooge maybe in the long run.

Come to think of it, the average IT person spend aleast 10K in data per month (which is horrible slow)

If the maximum number of connected devices can be 128.
Charging 128 people , 10K/mo is a lot of money to make as a side hustle.

But the thing is, is this feasible? 🤔

Lol!!!! Nigerians are their warped way of thinking. This one thinks it’s “smartness” when it’s out right high grade foolishness. You think the speed will remain the same at 128 devices? 128 devices that will be downloading nonsense because it’s “free fast internet”. Go and connect 128 devices na. While connecting 128 devices, also find out about FUP.

Starlink wey people abroad dey enjoy dey use hold their side, e reach Naija turn dem wan turn am to internet cafe

How about the distance, will they carry the starlink along with them to wherever they're going? Will the speed remain the same irrespective of the load? Will all your customers be your neighbors only?

Your response doesn't make you sound intelligent. Why not give an objective response instead of insulting him and Nigeria?

Like? These people just hate themselves. This guy saw something and thought about how he can earn from it. Yes he is ignorant of the facts but that's why he created the thread to get opinions from people who are more knowledgeable. Instead of giving constructive criticism na insult just dey him head. Na these kind of colleagues you don't want to work with. If you bring a programming problem to them they will insult you but if a white person bring same problem they will calm down and explain. Self hatred.

Go to this thread, and ask your questions there. There are a couple of starlink active users there so they can give you all the information you need.

You know, you can easily have left a valuable comment without insulting me and my fellow Nigerians and without being sarcastic. Your comments perhaps but am not insunating shows you don't have knowledge in networking ( CompTIA Network+).

Unlike what you perhaps might be claiming. I don't regard my self as a smart person. Am just trying to learn from experts here that's why I created this thread for this question. If I have everything figured out, I won't come here to post it.

Thirdly, I thought it would be a great idea to help people in where I live who might not have the funds to run their own Starlink satellite while at the same time make something out of it. So it the idea works, it might be a good idea for a mini ISP. That's my hypothesis I wanted to try out.

So please if you have a more constructive criticism on my thread, I am happy an willing to learn from you. I am not an island of knowledge. Thanks for your help and support.

Over and out.

Why not chat with them (Starlink), get a consultant on their end to see if it is possible and the requirements so your idea doesn't turn out to be a waste of time and resources.

You are waffling. And throwing Comptia Network+ into the mix to sound informed just makes it worse. Starlinks provide their service for retail users only. Attempting to resell that service to be a mini ISP and “make something out of it” is already a breach of the terms and conditions. If you were really N+ certified, you’d know that Starlink connection is shared bandwidth. Meaning if dishy gets 100Mbps down, that is shared by all devices downstream of dishy. 128 devices sharing 100Mbps is going to be worse than the Internet cafes of the early 2000s. Your N+ cert should also have let you know about FUP and that no “unlimited” is truly unlimited.

Stating a fact about Nigerians is an insult? We always look for the loopholes in a system and you consider that insulting Nigerians? And then looking for the loopholes without a sound knowledge of how the technology works?

They forget that there are two plans for Starlinks. The regular one people go for which is the cheapest one will give you service only from your address. The roaming one is more expensive, like $150/month. Also signal will degenerate with rain aka "rain fade". I was set to purchase Starlinks until I found out that with rain, it will be like DSTV. No signal when it rains

Everyone looks for loop hole in a system not only Nigerians. Its a global thing. About having no sound knowledge did he ever claim to have sound knowledge on starlink? Like you are just running your mouth.

How can someone who is asking questions to know more about how something works to see if what he wants to do is feasible claiming to have sound knowledge like I don't get the madness. He literally came stated this is a crazy idea he thought of. Then went ahead to make inquiries about how possible it will be. Isn't that not how research works or do you just decide to be a dimwit or something.

If he had gone ahead and started it you will be the one to say why didn't he ask questions. He is asking questions now and you are hyperventilating. All these insult first and ask questions later reaction should stop. Someone is asking questions you are insulting him for not knowing what he is asking about. If he knows why ask?

My brother, you deserve an award for this your reply to I too know person above.
If I had full knowledge of how it works, will I come here to ask questions if it's a feasible idea? Like I said earlier, it's a crazy idea I wanted to test out the hypothesis.

I pity people that reason like him or her ( I don't even know the sex of the person even insulting me and Nigerians).

He purpose of education is to have a free mind to explore your interests and unfortunately this person is trying to inhibit the mins of those who wants to explore their interest. Like Paul Graham of YC once said" criticism is easy. You just have to do nothing, look for people trying to criticize".

By the way, am thinking of another crazy idea. I don't know if it's feasible.
The idea isn't that unique though. So I will really need the tips and suggestions from experts in the house.

I have seen a lot of videos online and on YouTube on so many people starting out their delivery business, cargo delivery, truck delivery, van delivery and logistics company. So many logistics company from one man business to multi national delivery companies.

My idea is an UBER FOR LOGISTICS/DELIVERY

I will soon start my studies in Georgia institute of Technology and wanted to utilize the opportunity to build on this idea.

For now, my target market will be USA

Why?
Because they have first of all solved my identity problem with the SSN and EIN stuff. O don't need to start asking too much questions about anyone before they can register to be my user.

So even someone with a bicycle can be a delivery agent delivering goods on my app.

So just like Uber, Customers search for delivery agents close to them, see their rate, connect and chat up with agents and send their goods and track their goods in real time.

For now, we won't handle payments on th app. Delivery agents will negotiate with customers on how much they want to charge.
Bit our revenue model will be subscription. People pay a small amount $10/mo to be delivering goods on our app/to be agents or delivery people.

So what do you think about this idea?
Do you think it's feasible

Again, you are waffling. If you want to talk about me, mention my moniker and stop dancing on the side. I thought you were running your mouth mentioning N+ certification. Or you aren't Network+ certificied again as you insinuated? You were asking question to know more? Really? Park one side abeg. Asking questions to "know more" means that you already know something about it. But you clearly know nothing about the basics.

And regarding your "Uber for logistics" for USA, have you heard about Doordash?

I will point you to a software that can get you started for free, Shipday. For an open source solution, look up Coopcycle. Thank me later. And learn to do some research so when you are "asking to know more", you at least show that you have already put in some work to know more
