Greetings to all nairalanders
A quick one.
Is it wrong for a husband to live in his wife community while she works there?
I have a property in her community before getting married to her and she is the only heir to her parents. And I lost my both parents since 2006 before marriage. The community is rapidly developing and have every other ethnicity as land and property owners which I'm prevelage to be a property owner here too.
Her parents are caring and supportive too to us.
Is it safe to raise my children here or I should move out completely to avoid future stories that touches.
I need your sincere and honest advise on this matter.
No insult please.

Considering she's the only child of her parents, her parents would naturally love to see thier grandchildren around them. However, your decision is primarily dependent on 2 things.

1. How much regard your wife has for you. Whether you believe it or not, it will reflect in your children no matter where they are. Note: I didn't say how much love she has for you. That's one of the problems that leads to divorce that many young unmarried girls don't know. Her duty to you does not stop at love as many people think it does. It's your duty as the man to love, not hers. Hers is to submit (simply meaning- regard and respect) to you. If you give her a lot of free hand in the name of love, you might not be able to handle the effect of that free hand on your children.

Only you know your wife: If she regards you well, you can leave your kids around her and her parents. she will raise them to honor you. At least she has no siblings especially sisters who will jampack her brain with faulty reasonings and her father is still alive.

2. Does your job allow you to come home daily? If you will have enough time to relate with them very well, then thier location matters less, because it is who children see around them they know. That's why it's very easy for mothers to gain the attention of thier children and even manipulate them.

If these two things are not adequate, then I don't advice you to raise your children close to them

it is always wise for both wife and hubby to move away from each individual home steady

1 its avoids spying or monitoring from parents and relatives around == to freedom to shape your own marriage with parents and relative jumping in or monitoring

2 a new place gives you freedom know will judge you or expect you to act or behave in certian way because you are all new they will accept your way of life

1. I see nothing wrong with that at all. You have as much right to live there as she does. And as a property holder in the community, you can almost claim right like everyone else. undecided

Well as long as you are making progress, I don't think that's an issue

So far you know that you are not interested in her what she will inherit from her family, just don't relax, stay where you are and establish more

Forget about what people are saying, unless you are a gold digger

Lucky you, her parents are supportive to your family and her parents even appreciate the fact that their only child lives within their reach, that too makes them happy having you around

I know your father's family will not like it, but the fact is that you are making progress there and non of them will assist you better than her family

I honestly don't see what the issue can be, you have a property in a community (community can be very large and vast with plenty number of streets) her parents have a property there too and she's the only heir.

The fact that you mentioned the heir issue points to the fact that you might be worried what people will say which honestly is not relevant here, sebi you too you are a landlord ehen everybody can buy a property anywhere.

You guys don't live in the same house, I even doubt it's the same street, na area join una so no wahala.

It's not an issue, this wouldn't even be an issue in Lagos communities, something that someone I used to meet at church camp had been living in my next street for more than 10 years, never knew until the day we just randomly asked where she lived.
