As the demand for tech professionals continues to rise, many candidates are finding themselves in the hot seat during job interviews. While the specific questions may vary depending on the company and position, there are some common interview questions that frequently come up in the tech industry. In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the most common questions and offer tips on how to answer them.

Here are some of the most common interview questions for tech jobs:

1. Can you walk me through your technical experience?
This is a common question that assesses your experience in the tech industry. It is important to have a clear and concise response, highlighting your technical expertise and relevant experiences.

2. What is your experience with a specific programming language or technology?
Interviewers often ask specific technical questions to assess your knowledge and experience with specific programming languages or technologies. Be prepared to discuss your experience and provide examples of how you have used them in your past work.

3. How do you stay current with industry trends and technologies?
The tech industry is constantly changing, and it is important to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies. Interviewers want to know how you keep yourself informed and relevant in the industry.

4. Can you walk me through a project you’ve worked on from start to finish?
Employers want to know that you can see a project through to completion. Be prepared to discuss a project you have worked on, including the planning, execution, and final outcome.

5. How do you approach problem-solving?
Problem-solving skills are crucial in the tech industry. Interviewers want to know how you approach problems and find solutions. Be prepared to discuss a specific example of a problem you have faced and how you tackled it.

6. Can you tell me about a time when you had to work on a team project?
Collaboration is essential in the tech industry, and interviewers want to know how well you work with others. Be prepared to discuss a team project you have worked on, your role in the project, and how you contributed to the team's success.

7. What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
This is a common interview question in any industry, but in tech, it is important to highlight your technical skills and problem-solving abilities. Be honest about your weaknesses, but also explain how you are working to improve them.

In conclusion, preparing for an interview in the tech industry requires more than just technical expertise. Being able to communicate your skills and experiences effectively is just as important. By knowing common interview questions and practicing your responses, you can increase your chances of success in landing a tech job

Make sure to suit your resume according to the position you're applying for. If you're applying for a banking position, let your experience only be banking-based.
Plus remember you are there to provide the company value, not the other way around. Most Nigerians seek what they can get, and not what they can offer/give.

Change that mentality, focus on your craft and you would be surprised at how many companies reach out to you instead.

Dear Hiring Manager,

While virtual interviews have been the way to go for assessing the competency of job applicants in recent times, always normalize putting on your camera during interview sessions. Allowing applicants to put a face to the conversation will not only depict your concentration level but also improve the candidate's experience.

Also, avoid wasting applicants time during interview sessions by scheduling all of them for the same time. Rather allot different time to them based on the duration of each session.

Don't forget to cut applicants some slack! Some might be interrupted unexpectedly, there might be network failure requiring them to switch between different network providers, some might be shaky during introduction due to anxiety or fear etc. All these are common realities of virtual interview sessions.

Remember, the recruitment process is a two-way relationship! You afford applicants the opportunity to hone their skills on the job while they contribute to the corporate growth and development of your organization.

Dear HR, Hiring Managers/Recruiters, Employers

STOP⛔⛔⛔⛔ asking candidates who are already in paid employment to resume immediately, especially experienced hires with more than 2 years of experience.

Allow successful candidates to give the appropriate notice period before resumption as stated in their offer letters especially those who are confirmed staff.

Your actions are allowing candidates to burn bridges they will need in the future.

Do your internal work and fix your internal structures to aid your retention rate.

Candidates who are not in paid employment can do a resume immediately, where candidates tell you my notice period is one month, stop ⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔ sending them offer letters to resume in one week🙄🙄.

Most of these candidates have ongoing projects, unfinished assignments, ongoing training paid by their employers, deals about to be signed, new hires understudying them, etc.

Where employees leave abruptly, please allow prospective candidates to give appropriate notice before they resume.

Remember if they get in like that, they will leave you too abruptly because you did the same to an employee working elsewhere.

I posted a comment on a thread earlier on digital skills. Let me paste the comment here again:...

"I laugh when people say they want to learn coding, become a web master or software engineer. That shii ain't for dullards. It's not even for smart people who want to start making money from it immediately. The best time to start learning some digital skills is when you are a teenager or early twenties, when the troubles of life are minimal. You cannot learn some skills while being distracted by your wife and children or village people.

I know a lot, I have gathered plenty knowlege and skills, most of which I started learning when I was very young. Don't be like the lots of Nigerians who have jumped at a skill and ran out after a couple of months. Think well.

In a nutshell, digital skills is not for everyone. Some will become successful selling spear parts at Ladipo or selling laptops and phones at computer village."
Couple with Nigeria poor electricity, expensive data, noisy neighborhood, lack of capital to buy food and pay house rent.
