Nonsense, the Dot citizens are no hypocrites so we'll castigate even our own if they do bad.

Exchange Ekweremadu with another common citizen and see if they'll beg for leniency.

Hypocrisy at it's peak

First of all, it was for commercial purposes, that’s the whole point. Payment was exchanged, that is why he was convicted. Secondly you don’t appear to understand how big the issue of trafficking is for the UK. They don’t play with it. A day after he was arrested, before trial even commenced, he was stripped of his visiting professorship at Oxford. They don’t play with trafficking! Ask anyone who lives in the Uk how big the issue of trafficking is, be it forced Labour, prostitution, organ or human trafficking…they don’t play. The noise they have made and campaign against trafficking and the coverage of the matter in the press especially by the notorious daily mail is such that they can’t afford to be seen to be lenient…..It’s as simple as that.

If anything, Ekweremadu’s profile could work against him and make it more likely he gets a harsh sentence to send a message.. The likelyhood of diplomatic fallout is very low and the PR upside to the fight against trafficking is very high. He is not a critical figure to the ruling party such that it may damage relations and his party is unlikely to be in government for a very long time, if ever. He is dispensable to all parties.

As for Abike, that is precisely my point. Like you said the case has been on for months, why is she writing letter now a few days after coming under attack from ibos in Sudan? You are chairman of diaspora commission, matters affecting Nigerians outside Nigeria is the reason you exist and you didn’t think to write a letter a month ago when OBJ was writing letter, suddenly they attack you in Sudan and you remember your keyboard? She is just dotting her “I”s and crossing her “t”s.
By commercial you mean he had other sources in the UK which are rather "expensive" or how exactly? Offcourse they take such things seriously, my point is he only wanted to save his daughter even if it meants towing the illegal route, I dont like to believe there was a ready legal donor he opted against for financial reason. Again yes abike might have put on a social media plea today after backlash from igbos yesterday, but it does not mean the nidcom have not been involved in the case behind the scene until now.

Oga like I always say, the problem with Nigeria is we speak English but many do not understand or comprehend the meaning of the English words, it is difficult to communicate with someone who does not understand the language. Please look up the definition of “commercial” and while you are at it look up the meaning of “trafficking”. Also go and check for exactly what Ekweremadu was convicted of.

You can't influence the UK system. Even Theresa May's son had to serve his term. what if he had succeeded to dispossess the poor boy of his kidney, even if the story becomes public knowledge, Ekwere Madu would have denied him and twist the whole story in his own favour , all this big men, pleading for leniency for their fellow thief would never have said a word because it is a poor man's case. Today a non corrupt system have caught their fellow, now and there are trying to bribe the UK.it won't work.

Your point is good, but the thing is, there are at least ten hospitals that can do kidney transplant in Nigeria.

UNTH, which is in Ekweremadu's backyard self, they have had a kidney transplant unit since 2018.

If you were properly trained and educated, you will not come here asking me to explain what commercial is. I can’t be having a conversation with someone and at the same time teaching them English. You should have learnt English at home or at school before being sent to the world.

Your education or home training should either have equipped you with the knowledge of the meaning of the word or the gumption to use a dictionary not to start to engage in a discussion on a matter whose definition you by your own admission do not even know.

It's sentiments that ruin Nigeria. Let him do his time. I understand thier plight and I have compassion for them and for their daughter but it shouldnt be at a poor Nigerian's expense. If it was in Nigeria he will never be charged talkless of spend any time in jail. The people that committed crimes against humanity during Endsars are walking free today. Some where even given promotions and appointments. I won't mention names. But for the first time, justice is prevailing on a politician outside Nigeria. I'm compassionate and sorry about their daughter but I'm also compassionate and sorry for millions of Nigerians that are going through hardship one way or the other becasue of "these people"

I'm Nigerian and not begging for mercy. Quit with the generalization. A crime was committed by a Nigerian against another Nigerian. The only thing was that one is a elite politician in the ruling class. If the reverse was the case and the crime was the other way. Will Nigerian govt even get involved to get justice for the small boy if he was wronged?

Abike Dabiri Erelu

Under rated Hardworking Government official and Politician

At NTA her Sunday night program helped many families

At the house of Assembly she sponsored bills like

. freedom of information act
. Gender equality bill
. Journalism act
. Nigerian in Diaspora Commision bill

.
It's Erewa not Erelu
If you want to make a career of sycophants it is important you get names right at least

It is however interesting to note that Lagos has consistently rejected that particular bill from taking effect on the state while she is a member of the political family in the state

Not to educated illiterates. You can read, you can write but you do not know the true meaning of what you read or write…that’s the definition of an educated illiterate. To make matters worse you lack the initiative in a world of free online dictionary to check the meaning before you talk.
