Senate Considers Bill Seeking To Establish Christian Centre ‘to Tackle Extremism by Racoon(m): 8:56pm On May 05, 2023
The senate has passed for second reading a bill seeking to establish an institution known as the National Centre for Christian Education.

The legislation sponsored by Binos Yaroe, senator representing Adamawa south, seeks to “regulate and set standards” acceptable to the practice of Christianity in the country.

Yaroe said the “inappropriate practice” of religions in the country has caused problems in the past. Contributing to the debate, Istifanus Gyang, senator representing Plateau north, said wrongly practised religion has bred extremism.

We don’t have to suspect ourselves across religious divides. Rather, we need to understand, respect ourselves, our peculiarity and reality,” Gyang said.

“Religion as wrongly practised is what has bred extremism and hate but rightly practised, religion can be a source of strength and national cohesion. This is where the place of a commission that will develop a curriculum for Christian education is very necessary.”

“This is where the place of a commission that will develop a curriculum for Christian education is very necessary. Also speaking, Abba Moro, senator representing Benue south, said the bill is “apt” owing to the fact that some youths have been manipulated by extremist religious leaders.

“There is no gainsaying that part of the problem we have in some parts of the country is the inappropriate explanation of the Bible and the Quran,” the senator said.

The bill passed second reading after it was put to a voice vote by Senate President Ahmad Lawan. Then Lawan referred the bill to the committee on education for further legislative input.

This is long overdue. Very commendable !
The present crops of religious leaders are displaying, breeding and encouraging extremism. They are exploiting the deep emotions people attach to religion, to manipulate and mislead them.

This past electioneering season really exposed the deficiency, the decay; most especially extremism and hatred that have found it way into the church.

It has always been there over the years, it became very glaring in the past few months. CAN and PFN as a christian body now surrender themselves to be use as political tools to antagonise perceived political oppositions of other religion.

Pastors, GOs and other 'god of men' have now abandoned the preaching of the gospel to openly preach hate and enmity on the altar of the church against other religions, political actors and even against the country. The scary part is that, it is not even hidden anymore; like in the corner of their offices but openly on the altar, on live TV and anywhere they find themselves.

Washington once wrote: "Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by a difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be deprecated…"

May God forgive us all.

Meanwhile, the cult that have produced the likes of ISIS, Al Quaeda, Alshabab, Hezbollalah, Boko Haram, Izalla etc have been left "unregulated" and untouched as a sacred cow.

Nigeria is not a secular state as the unconstitutional investure and membership in OIC by the Babangida administration have long established religious supremacist agenda.

If those folks are Christians who read their bibles, they should have known rise in false teachers was foretold. Spending money to stop what your bible said must come to pass is ridiculous. This will be another waste of billions of naira that should have been channeled in a useful project.

BTW, na Islam get extremism.

You mind that ignorant fella.

Apc’s Muslim-muslim Ticket Is Call To Jihad – Kano Islamic Preacher, Auwal.
Tinubu APC’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is Call To Jihad, Shows Supremacy Of Islam To Christianity In Nigeria – Kano Preacher, Auwal, Tells Congregation To Vote Massively for Tinubu to declare Jihad on Christians if he wins.

At a special prayer session organised by Muslim clerics in Kano, Northwest, Nigeria, for the success of Bola Tinubu's candidacy, Auwal informed that the Tinubu/Shettima’s Muslim/Muslim ticket had defined the supremacy of Islam.

A Nigerian Islamic preacher, Abdulmutallab Mohammed Auwal, has charged Muslims to consider the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Muslim/Muslim ticket as a call to Jihad.

At a special prayer session organised by Muslim clerics in Kano, Northwest, Nigeria, for the success of Bola Tinubu's candidacy, Auwal informed that the Tinubu/Shettima’s Muslim/Muslim ticket had defined the supremacy of Islam. He, accordingly urged all Muslim voters, to overwhelmingly vote the Tinubu/Shettima, Muslim/Muslim ticket on the day of election.

"This meeting was convened by our group, Islamic Preachers and we've invited about 75 Muslim groups, including the Kaduna State Izala and the Jos (Plateau state) Izala, the Salafiya, Kadariya, IMWAN, Muslims in Da'awa, Women in Da'awa. Also here are groups like Yoruba and Igbo Muslim groups. Last but not the least, we have here the Kano Imams' group.

"The import of today's sitting is to let the clerics and indeed all Muslim leaders know that the Muslim/ Muslim ticket is not about mere promises of bringing dividends of democracy like road and infrastructure. This ticket is about the supremacy of Islam. This ticket has honoured Islam. Therefore, we'll honour it with our ballots.

"Furthermore, remember that a Muslim is always better than an infidel. What more of two Muslims combined? This informed why we undertook to create this awareness and to let all of us know that this Muslim/Muslim ticket is a jihad call to all Muslims," Auwal said.

Another cleric, who is the leader of Izala sect in Kano, Sheikh Abdallah Saleh Pakistan, disclosed that Tinubu had over a long time promoted the enthronement of a Muslim/Muslim candidate. He said, "We've discussed extensively on how this candidate (Tinubu) has for a long time strived to actualise the Muslim/Muslim ticket. He paired Nuhu Ribadu with a Muslim Yoruba back then and was also instrumental to the Abiola/Kingibe, Muslim/Muslim ticket."

On his part, Kano State Governor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, asserted that the Tinibu/Shettima ticket would be supported by all Muslims, insisting that the practice was not new in the country.

"Muslim/Muslim ticket is not new to Nigeria. The Abiola/Kingibe Muslim/Muslim was overwhelmingly voted Muslims and it succeeded. Unfortunately a military junta nullified the victory. Another opportunity is here and thank God we're now in democracy; no one can annul the election," Ganduje averred.

They stupid senator putting a leash on the practice of Christianity can never dare call for the same on the Islamic faith. They know their heads will be hanging on a pole if they do that.

Deborah Samuel's gruesome death on the hands of Islamic fanatics was supposed to be a compelling reason for them to do that, but nay! They behaved as if nothing happened.
