Presidential Election Tribunal Sets To Entertain Petitions by Sexygallant: 1:22pm On May 08, 2023

The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, is now set to entertain petitions from candidate of PDP and labor party seeking to nullify the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections.

A five-member panel of Justices of the Court of Appeal that will hear and determine all the five petitions challenging the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the presidential election has been set-up.


Amidst tight security and people holding placards on the streets leading to the Appeal Court, the first day of the tribunal hearing is calm,the atmosphere around the court area is generally peaceful.


According to reports ,It is the first of its kind that Civil Society Organisation' s and the Media are allowed to witness the proceedings from inside the court.


A Coalition of CSO's were approved by the election tribunal to witness the hearing. The CSOs were represented by Mr Romanus Azubuike Ugwu from the Centre for strategy Ethics and Value, Amb Princess Funmi Jacob, Conscience Women of Africa Initiative and Danladi Garba Isaac, The People's Care And Advocacy Initiative (TPCAI).


Meanwhile, the panel will be headed by the Presiding Justice (PJ) of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, Justice Haruna Tsammani.

Other members of the panel are; Justice Stephen Adah (PJ Asaba Division), Justice Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf (Asaba Division), Justice Boluokuromo Ugo (Kano Division), as well as Justice Abba Mohammed (Ibadan Division).

Upon hearing of the petition The labor party case hearing had been adjourned to Wednesday 10th May 2023 by 2pm.
