sad

Professor Wangari Maathai,Nobel Peace Laureate and conservation heroine has died in Nairobi after a long battle with cancer.

She will be remembered for her fight against the moi's regime's attempts to build a 60-storey building at Uhuru Park at the center of Nbo city. She then took on powerful individuals in the moi goverment who had hived off parts of a major forest in the outer fringes of the city.
She also joined mothers of political prisoners on a hunger strike in a quest to force Moi to free them.
She joined politics, was elected as member of parliament and served as Assistant Minister in Kibaki's first Goverment.
Known for her Love for trees Wangari was in 2004 awarded the nobel peace prize for her conservation efforts.
She was a mother,worker,co-worker,role model and heroine who deserved to make teh world a peaceful ,healthy and better place for us all.

RIP dear Wangari. You will be missed by all. From school children, the international community, to the old in the village.
