Poor Timing for a Counter Offer.
Why wait till valuable employees are exiting your organization before you realize they deserve a salary increase?
Most employees who want to resign, especially those whose salary has not been increased in a long time or whose current role will not afford them much growth that aligns with their career goals have to be wise in declining a counteroffer from the current employer.
Why decline a counteroffer?
👉 Career Progression. 👉 Flexible working hours + Compensation. 👉 Personal values no longer align with your current company. 👉Desire to work in another industry. 👉 Personality/Company's Culture no longer aligns. 👉Career Change. 👉Better health care for self and family. 👉Relocation. 👉Personal or family Obligations.
Sample Template on how to Politely decline a Counter Offer;
Dear HR,
Thank you so much for your generous offer. It's good to know that I am a valuable employee. My time here at ABC organization has allowed me to grow as a professional. The industry knowledge I have gained from management and my peers will be the foundation for my long-term success.
However, it's time for me to take the next step in my career. It was a difficult decision to make, but I must decline your offer. I have expressed my interest to advance several times over the years, and I see that this role doesn't have as much room for growth as I had originally expected. At this time, I want to pursue a position that can give me more responsibility and professional career growth.
This letter will serve as notice that my last day will be ABC. I wish everyone here a successful future.
I hope to continue to stay in touch on social media and via email.
Respectfully yours, (Name of Existing Employee)
I hope this helps someone to make the right decision with regard to declining a counteroffer and informing Employers to promptly reward high-performing employees with better remunerations and not wait till they get a better offer elsewhere: someone may already be poaching that "your high-performing employee!"-make the reward move now."

It’s a job seeker’s market bro. With the over 12 million jobs created by this Administration nobody should be stressed by any Employer of labour. As a matter of fact if you don’t like your place of work just quit and go elsewhere. 1 Like |
