The world was once one people, formless and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep. All the people of the earth were just one mass of ignorant idolatrous brigands. Then God divided the earth into two, Israel and the Gentiles. Israel got the knowledge of God, God revealed himself to them and asked them to go into the world and multiply. They were to multiply by spreading the word of God to all the ends of the earth. They were God's angels and messengers. But there was a wall of enmity because how do you synch the living and dead together? When Jesus died, the wall of enmity between Israel and the Gentiles was broken and all the nations of the earth were invited into the commonwealth of Israel. This is how the Apostles received the commission to go into the world and make disciples of all men, baptising them into God in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
