One nairalander asked that I post about South African foods and I thought since I now have all the time to myself, let me do it now before something comes up.

1. Samp and beans. You can either choose to eat it as it is, or you can add some lamb or beef stew on the side, even chicken stew... Personally I prefer beef stew because I don't eat lamb.

2. Chicken feet. You guys know chicken feet..

3. Creamy Samp. With this one you don't add beans. You add some veggies, cream cheese, powdered milk, butter, and your seasonings.

4. Russians... .. It's some type of a sausage and you can either eat it with bread and chips.

Back in 2021 the Russians in Russia were so shocked when they found out that South Africans eat russians because they assumed it's human meat, specifically that of Russians..🤣🤣🤣

5. Bunny chow. It's bread along with meat and a variety of veggies and spices... Some bunny chows consist of russians, polony, viennas, cheese, atcha, chips, and sauces.

It has levels, in the suburbs they call it bunny chow, in the townships they call it Kota, and in the village they call it sephatlo... I'm only talking about the Pedi village because i don't know what other villages from other tribes call them.

6. Chicken livers. I think you guys know what are chicken livers, I don't have to explain.

7. Braai. I don't know what you guys call it, but I believe it's some sort of a barbecue.. It goes well with pap, chakalaka, and some salad... I personally prefer it with cold pap.. There's something about that cold pap and braai..

8. Vetkoeks and mince. It's fat cakes and minced meat. You can choose to eat the vetkoeks as they are, or you can add some minced meat, polony, russians, viennas, or even atcha.

9. Tripe.. I think you guys know it, but just use a different name for it... It's cattle stomach lining.

10. Chicken gizzards. I believe you also know what chicken gizzards are.

11. Boerewors. It's a type of a sausage too, it comes in different flavours... My favourite.. ... You can braai, or fry it and eat it with pap along with some tomato gravy and a variety of veggies on the side, or you can make a boerewors stew and eat it with rice, samp, or even macaroni... I used to like eating a lot of it back in varsity...

12. Pap and chicken intestines... I'm not going to lie, I love chicken intestines, but I don't like the process of preparing them because you have to make sure that the chicken feaces are properly removed before you can cook them... They always remind me of home.. .. most of the time when I'm alone I buy those ones that are already cooked... But when I'm at home I'd convince my mother to prepare them and I'd cook them afterwards...

13. Biltong. It's dried beef... I prefer eating it as a snack.

I use to see big brother titans south africa house mates using bread to eat soup! Please is that normal in S.A?
