You fell for his deceit, that guy is a Tinubu supporter masquerading as a Biafran agitator, go through his comments and confirm, I feel he is been paid to do so to cause hatred from other tribes against the Igbos, that's why I was surprised when a lot of south-westerners fell for the deceit during the election against the Igbos.

The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a first step even if such has previously not been taken. Let the Obong start from wherever is community is currently.

His surname Ani means land in Igbo. Anybody know what it means in calabar language?

What language in Nigeria is called calabar language? Cross River state has more than 10 languages, ranging from Efik to Ejagham to Bekwarra to Yakurr, Bahumono, Legbo, etc. There are even parts of the state that speak Igbo, Igala, etc.

SS and SE were jointly known as Eastern Region. The tribes had their distinct territories within. Just like Western Region included today's Edo and Delta States yet, they had their territories which later evolved into Midwestern Region.

Eastern Region wasn't all Igboland nor was the whole of Westen Region Yorubaland.

Being together in a geopolitical region is not the same thing as being one ethnicity. How is it that this very simple concept has to be explained to an adult?

My hometown/City can now progress onto proper development.

Fun Fact: It was Anthony Ani that ended the indigenisation Decree which limited foreign ownership of most businesses in Nigeria to 40%. By ending the policies, foreign companies could now set up 100% foreign owned companies again in Nigeria.

Four out of seven voted unanimously for the new Obong.
What else is the rancour about?
Long live Obong Ani
This is usurping of power and might not end as desired. The stole of Obong of Calabar is never an elected position and will never be. The itit asabo can’t be desecration by having two individuals mount it in a life time. Even a child knows that as long as the present Obong is still life, he remains the ruler.
The use of state power and government connections to hand twist and wrestle power is a shameful act that must be condemned. Everyone should rest and wait for their turn, this should not even be an issue opened for debate.
When people turn the truth face down, it shows the height of desperation and lack of integrity. How could someone publicly claim that Calabar has not had an Obong for over a decade? How is it possible that the kingmakers have remained silent on this matter for that long?
The Obong’s throne is not an election position, neither is it open for the highest bidder. By tradition and precedence, it is a heritage, a right by virtue of one’s position in the Efik family (ufok)
Only divine power can make one be a descendant of a particular family, not man. For the Etuboms, your job is to use your position to make this divine proclamation known to people. Your job is not to select, as the selection is natural. Not by contest. It is Family after family.
There used to be a time when even a child could tell who or which family would be the next Obong. That was when the Efik kingdom was paramount, peaceful and progressive.
The current deviation from that long held practice passed down by the ancestors has brought rancor, reproach and regression to the once well respected throne.
One thing is certain, the spirits are not dead neither are the ancestors. The ikpa ekpe, itit asabo, oyobio, are all watching.
Let the right be done.
Re: Anthony Ani Proclaimed New Obong Of Calabar by Pacesetter123(m): 4:39pm On May 23, 2023
Why must it be only 4 out of the 7 Etuboms in council that voted for Ani?
Where are the other 3?

Ohh,I 4got, the report says they have been arrested and detained by Intelligence agency before the selection was done.
Now, this is what oyibo called PALACE COUP.

In that case, the present Obong is still the authentic monarch until he dies,or properly dethroned traditionally or constitutionally.
