Is it right to turn down food served to you by your fiance/fiancee's family on meeting them for the first time?

The question is have they been expecting u?
If yes, is means they've prepared the food solely for your coming and not right to turn it down. Just eat, but not like a glutton.

exactly, If they were expecting you, you can eat it but kinda resist in a calming manner, you might as well tell them that they don't need to stress themselves especially if they ask you what you would like to eat.. if they persist by bringing the food to you already, just eat small amount and appreciate them..

Serving you food on the first visit is an honour to you because they are aware you are coming and went beyoud budget to prepare that meal

Just say NO.

Some family are funny and looking for excuses to disqualify someone, if you say YES, as a guy they will be thinking that you are hungry, as a girl they will check if you are loyal and to see your reaction towards the food .

The first time I meet my wife's father, I nor do gentle man ooo!!! And the man like me so much because I was down to earth.
