There is a fine difference between protest and riotous, as a learned person, you have to engage school management and discuss the fees hike.

It is not evil to increase school fees but when students can't pay, the SUG speak for them and not anyone threatening to destroy something

Following the upwards review of school fees in the university of Abuja which has made a lot of students either drop out or struggle to pay, the school’s director of Socials (SUG) made a post on their WhatsApp group asking that students speak up and call the school to listen to their plights, the chat was leaked and the school authority got wind of it.

He was later rusticated for his remonstration and asked to leave the school immediately.

Igwe had said, “Good evening, house. We will be having a meeting tomorrow by 6:00 pm in regards to school fees, let’s know our way forward. I am deeply in pain, many students can’t pay, I hope the SUG President is in this group. I need everyone’s ideas.

“I’d rather risk my life, my admission than seeing thousands of students drop out. If the spirit of Aluta lives in us, it has to wake up. Please be part of this meeting.”

This decision by Uniabuja school management should not stand.
The SUG should act fast

The elephant in the room is high school fees.

Many of us think that we are paying high school fees in Nigeria. We are not. We are paying low school fees. And it is one of the reasons why our universities are perpetually broke.

You cannot build world class university on fees lesa than 100000 naira. Even ten times that is not enough.

Abuja university fees are now at 62000 naira. That is basically less than 1000 dollars. And we want it to look like universities on fees of 30000 dollars.

Naija is completely scattered. ..

that was how i got an admission in to futo and quickly paid my acceptance fee which was 52k! plus some other digits at the back can't really remember. I was later informed that i'd have to wait till august b4 i can start lectures bcus of the last ASUU strike that happened. I said ok no p. Since my dad didn't have enough yet to pay for the school fees which was very huge for a federal school. 106.?k for my own course

Then last week or i got an sms from FUTO that i had to pay my acceptance fee and school fee at once or my admission will be forfeited. And i was like ahn ahn why?! When is school resuming and why are they doing like that wen they know very well that the fees was high. I went to the school(FUTO) to plead and tell them dat my dad was still arranging for the fees. Bt they were unmoved and told me to pay both before the dead line or loose my admission. To cut the story short i lost the admission because i paid only my acceptance fee and was unable to pay my tuition fee(school fees).
I just don't have bothers After all my reading, it pained me, bt i just took it as GOD TIME IS THE BEST

The most annoying part is my 52k which they've collected. Because basically, they blocked every student that got admission from accepting their admission from their portal and likewise jamb. Just sms they'll send to you that you've gotten it and when you're like crazed that the 'accept admission' button isn't working, i spent a lot not wanting to loose this one cause i've tried jamb 2ce nw. It's heartbreaking
Nigeria universities are increasing their fees when our country keeps getting hard. Like WHY?! Mtchew make God help person make i commot for this country. Na why people dey japa leave Nigeria becus, everyday person hope go dey cut

That guy is the director of social and his comment is a threat to his life and the school cos he said he was ready to risk his life and the admission and the school had to be proactive.
In 2021, a lady posted on how imigration delayed them in Dubai, she was arrested for such a trivial thing and we applauded it that you have to follow rules and mind ur words, till today I was one of the few that thinks she didn't do anything bad

I will say this over and over again... Baby Bomer generation in Nigeria hates student/ activism, how can a university rusticate a student because of a whatsapp post. Quite horrible.

read what the student wrote again, read every line carefully and you will see the reason he was rusticated

Abuja based lawyers should immediately file a law suit against the university of Abuja on his behalf. You cannot be rusticated for deciding to sacrifice your life to see that your colleagues are not forced out of school due to hike in school fees.

Please, did you face probe panel before you were given this letter?
If yes, what did they say is your offence?
If no, this is an injustice act, the SUG should approach the court now because it could be any other person tomorrow.
Before any rustication/punishment could be applied to anyone, there should be fare hearing.
