When he calls it "a little fracas" he is not belittling the loss or suffering by people. He is a UK trained Sandhurst officer and if you understand the culture it is called understatement. To give an example a soldier who came under severe fire in Helmsnd province in Iraq was reported as saying " it was an interesting moment"
