See how his careless statement pushed Nigerians to hardship since morning ...

His handlers should advice this drug addict to seek their opinion before making a public statement..

All in a bid to sound as a decisive leader of agboros, he ended up embarrassing himself with subsidy talk...

Only a confused clown speaks without direction !

Let the shock continues...Subsidy is gone and gone for good.

I won't support the school of thought that feels Tinubu should have announced this later into his administration...no way! It would have been seen by majority of Nigerians as if it's his policy.. because we forget thing in this country.

So, it's better he is all out and out on this categorical statement that, he is inheriting what is already a LAW..that's Subsidy has not budgetary provisions in 2023 budget beyond June.

Is the joke not on you now that he has recanted?

Tinubu will be ashamed of his z*mbies...

Awon oloriburuku already waiting for Tinubu to fail, they jumped at the slightest opportunity to criticize him for what is not, I'm sure their Peter Obi would have done worst, he spent eight years achieving nothing in Anambra and this is a man with glaring potential and our hope but they don't want to give him a chance, useless fellows.

Clarifying after bombs like this would't be the best thing.

His speech should just be regulated. He should not be allowed to alter any word outside the typed speech
Bobloco:
Clarifying to clarify

It's going to be a long ride under this Bulaba government

On a more serious note, a clarification desk should be set up to always clarify Tinubu's incoherent speeches

“He was merely communicating the status quo, considering that the previous administration’s budget for fuel subsidy was planned and approved to last for only the first half of the year.

“Effectively, this means that by the end of June, the Federal Government will be without funds to continue the subsidy regime, translating to its termination.

Are obidients daft or blinded by hatred?
but what was the essence of communicating it in the first place, like the masses should give him a round of applause for something that would definitely bring them more hardship, and he wasn't even the one who terminated petrol subsidy it was buhari so what was he trying to prove?

Simply because of that word 'misunderstand', there are things you don't say as an elderly person, not to talk of being a President of more than 200million population

He should know better with his age and exposure

Same thing we've been telling people like you all day. By the policy directive, the subsidy has long ago been fixed to end in June.

But when you don't read how do you want to understand?

You will soon learn how to speak about your President in a more polite and decent manner. You will either adjust yourself accordingly or ship out. I repeat, no social media organisation will be able to shield you guys. Mark my words….some of you will serve as scapegoats to teach others some lesson. Just keep yapping! cool cool

Take the lesson and learn from it.

Admit that your man goofed and goofed badly.

This was a terrible way to start. Unfortunately it is a little bit too late for him to learn that temperance in speech (and action) is a virtue.

A lot of time is going to be wasted on retractions and clarifications in the life of this administration. It was all fun and games when it was "gazelle gagaraga" and all that stupid nonsense but there is real, severe damage being done now. undecided

This was a written speech and look at the horror show playing out. So what happens when the man has to speak 'ex tempore'? undecided

Nigerians have made their bed and they must lie in it.

@4Play, I think Nigerians generally don't understand simple English. Or, shall we say simple English within contexts. And, they do precious little to better themselves in this regard. Now, no one is spinning anything here. If Tinubu said, in his inaugural speech, that subsidy is gone, he's not far from the truth, given the reality on ground. Technically, it is gone.

People should learn to sieve facts from fiction. What has happened is that whatever the president says has the immediacy of impacts. So, it triggered, first, the anxiety of ill-educated, ill-informed Nigerians. Second, it caused unscrupulous elements to hoard the product with a view to raising prices and maximizing illicit profits.

In the end, the efficacy of market forces will play out as Dangote's refinery begins to supply petroleum products from the end Of July.
