I was discussing with a group of friends on the above subject and why I think the company has not done enough in pushing their products to the consciousness of most Nigerians.

While the majority opinion is that he been from a certain part of the country means that he wouldn't be allowed to progress by the 'powers' that be. While acknowledging the tremendous power government patronage wields on a business, personal marketing strategies are the surest ways to imprint a product in the minds of prospective consumers.

For instance:
- Why is there no major showroom or dealership for Innoson cars in any of the tricities of Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka in Anambra state or any of the south eastern states not to mention the 36 states. A dealership or showroom will give their cars the necessary visibility while mitigating the opinion that these are cars are just for government patronage only.

- Most folks get their car advice and choice from mechanics and technicians and it's quite a pity that Innoson group is ignoring this subsector.
There should be a program to train old and intending mechanics on the technology and specifications of Innoson cars by the company.
Just like the way breweries brand most bars, Innoson should brand some garages too. This will create ambassadors that will sway public opinion in no distant time.

- No one wants to buy a car without the assurance of getting spares. There should be dedicated fully branded shops and warehouses in all the major spare parts markets. This will go a long way to instill confidence in the minds of would be buyers.

- This is perhaps the most strategic weapon in their arsenal; CNG cars and uses. I have been on the lookout for Innoson's adverts with catchy phrases emphasizing CNG engines in this era of expensive petrol. It shouldn't be out of place to hear about MOUs with transport companies towards creating a mass transit scheme to be powered by CNG busses.
Efforts should be made to provide the necessary infrastructure for refilling this CNG buses and cars. A liason with already existing petrol and LPG stations will take care of this.

I may be wrong with my analysis because I am not an expert in marketing, also I do not see the full picture, but I sincerely believe a lot more needs to be done by the Innoson brand to make them more competitive.
