Sorry this may not be the right place but I believe I will meet the right audience here.

This is my first time renting a house, I saw a good house, I liked it and was ready to pay for it.

So my question is when I want to pay for my rent, I’m I not suppose to meet the landlord for the payment and tenancy agreement?

Now the agent is telling me that the landlord is not available cause he has many buildings and most of his tenants have not meet him and bla bla bla.

So my advise is, does this make sense. I for one, not willing to go ahead with such deal but I’ll like to hear experiences of people. What do you think of this.

Most landlords prefer dealing with agent and not the occupant.... just try to verify anything you wanted to know from those occupant of the building... I can assured you they will reveal to you all what you wanted to know and if the agent is into fraud or not....
Always do your findings before you pay in order not to be scammed.

go to the apt building, ask other tenants to give you the name of the landlord, then contact the landlord and confirm that the agents really works for him.

you dodged a bullet there.... its always good to ask tenants about everything, not just who the owner is but also how the owner is? is it a great friendly compound etc!

Apparently I saw a banner on the building. Call the number and he called a different price much higher than the first price the other agent was calling (reason I first doubted cause the price the scammer agent called was too good to be true for such an apartment)

After calling the number posted on the building itself, I was told any anyone that brought me and told me that price is a thief.
