The mandate thieves are quick to remind us that Peter Obi also promised to end petroleum subsidy. However, their half truth liars are silent of the fact that Peter Obi also promised to raise minimum wages to N100,000.

It appears people become totally senseless the moment they start defending APC-led federal government. OP is talking about civil service and you are busy comparing it with a private establishment.

FYI, if you can block Nigeria's losses to corruption, you will save a lot of money for this country.

They should recall him back into Anambra government house to do that so he can begin restitution by compensating doctors and other staffs that went on strike for about a year under his watch. When he succeeds, he should re-contest for presidency to try his luck again

Obi supporters are naturally stupid

How many workers does FG, State Government and Local Government employ

So the entire Nigerians should pay Government civil servants with gains of price hike

No infrastructure, nothing... Just pay Civil Servants and Politicians

Such dull idea

Let me humbly teach you the Economics of National budgeting.

Assuming FG's budget expenditure was 10Naira with Subsidy & subsidy got removed, it means 10Naira - Subsidy = 4Naira because Subsidy was about 60% of the budget.

Now although budget is reduced to 4 Naira there is now a financial vacuum(6Naira) that directly impacts common wealth, so what do you do?

You inject funds to stabilise the vacuum that impacts common wealth, however it must be sustainable, so you don't end up creating another unsustainable expenditure like Subsidy.

So to knock out the impact of market forces on the economy created by removing the fuel Subsidy, you do price regulations on what you can control as the FG, for example

1- The minimum wage
2- Taxes
3- Interest rates
4- Industrial subsidies
5- Agricultural subsidies
6- Transportation Subsidies

So you decide to cover the 6Naira vacuum with 1naira each for the 6 listed areas on the budget.

Then that is a proper balance.

However Buhari/B.A.T pulled out the fuel Subsidy but left everything the same way on the budget ignoring the vacuum...

Chairman you sef look am, the thing balance?

Thanks for the explanation simple and straight forward

However using 2022 budget as an example

Increasing minimum wage would increase our reccurent expenditure by over 300% while our income remains the same

Last budget had a huge deficit of 11trillion

Debt Servicing took 6 trillion

Personally looking at our last budget I am not sure of such increments

Remember we paid $10billion last year on subsidy... That's 4trollion

You have a very strong point.

However take note, Nigeria took loans to service (in Peter Obi's words) consumption.

I am really not against taking loans as long as it's not servicing a consumption invoice such as fuel Subsidy.

If loans are taken to service profit generation or productivity such as,

1- Minimum wage (labour is profit generating)
2- Industries
3- Agriculture
4- Transportation

Then I am cool with such loans.

However addressing your point specifically, B.A.T should have not made any utterance about subsidy, until he had composed a complete team to study the already cracked budget & figure out strategic ways which holes could have been plugged.

But he bottled things up at the inauguration.

Peter OBI is a known fraudster who takes pleasure in the gullibility of Nigerians to hoodwink them. How will he raise the minimum wage to 100k? Has he told you how he intends to do that? Nonsense.

Chairman,
Even if I wanted to support B.A.T his singlular action of immediately announcing subsidy removal without even double thinking the impacts of that statement, has fully convinced me that Baba is not in touch with Economic realities and to be honest I am not surprised because he had already shown all those signs that he does not think on his feet.

Even if Buhari removed it already, is that something you would publicly announce knowing fully well you have not even put a cabinet or think-tank down to tackle the issue? Especially since there was a huge deficit (that he had already seen).

Because currently addressing this issue is like trying to mend broken glass.

B.A.T just showed he is either;

1-dull
2-wicked
Or
3- a careless person

The truth of the matter is; it is very very clear Nigerians are in for a long rough ride with this APC administration.

And I suggest B.A.T needs to hire not one but three spokespersons who are of the mold of Lai Mohammed working round the clock to cover up anytime he gaffes or renders careless statements like this, because trust me, more gaffes are coming.
