If The Love Of Money Is A Sin, Should A Christian Not Love Making Good Money...? by Davidsol: 9:24am On Jun 08, 2023
There's a saying from my region "money is the wheel of the gospel."

In other words, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ will go far and wide if money is actively involved.

The first question I request to ask, is it not christians like you and I that are making good money to support this gospel?

Brethren, we're in the last days. And there's need for the gospel, just as it was written, to be evidence of reaching everywhere, before the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My second question, which I need you to share your thoughts; would you not see it as a privilege to love making good money and be one of the supporters of this gospel?

Nobody can deceive God so if you're working with the aim of supporting yourself while doing the Lord's work it's understandable {Act 18:3} but if it's towards accumulating material possessions God knows {Matthew 6:19-21} it's impossible to worship God and riches together {Matthew 6:24} that's what the guy who came to Jesus for salvation lacks, Jesus read through his earth that he's so much attached to riches! Luke 18:18-23

God doesn't need your good money if you're not ready to participate in the word assigned to Christians so be contented whatever you have {1Timothy 6:6-10} while making time {Ephesians 5:15-16} to preach and teach {Matthew 28:19-20} in your neighbourhood with Christ's disciples!

We can deceive our fellow man but nobody can deceive God so keep money in it's rightful place if you're part of those God needs to support His congregation will material things it's not by your knowledge or wisdom that will make you rich! Ecclesiastes 9:11

God bless you and may you have PEACE! smiley

I will like to appreciate @MaxinDHouse's contribution.

But, it seems he hasn't addressed this topical issue amicably.

I asked, "If The Love Of Money Is Sin, Should A Christian Not Love Making Good Money?"

Let's take this instance; I am claiming to be a Christian, even as a successful businessman. I have stated initially that "money is the wheel of the gospel" with a Bible in Ecclesiastes 10:19 "Money Answers All Things!"

My candid question; if it's my desire to keep making good money, and be positioned to support the works of the gospel, as a Christian, is it a sin for me to love making good money?

Friends, I'll appreciate you share your thoughts or contribute in this conversation.

1. That saying is a lie! Jesus Christ said those who do not abandon all their treasure and wealth in this life cannot be worthy of Him. So, the gospel has nothing to do with your money nor is your money connected in any way to the gospel of Jesus Christ. undecided

2. You do not make money to support the gospel. Jesus Christ, again, said those who will be His followers must stop working for food that perishes — wages, careers, businesses - John 6 vs 25 - 35. So, if you find yourself working to support the gospel, you are not in fact doing any of the work that is of Jesus Christ but of you and your masters. undecided

3. Again supporting the gospel by making money contradicts the very teachings and commandments of the very Gospel you claim you are for. undecided

By the way, these aren't the last days, not even close.

The problem is the LOVE to make money!

Jesus taught his they must LOVE making God's Kingdom their priority but the LOVE to make money will serve as a distraction! Matthew 6:25-34

Thanks for your time may you have PEACE!

My friend @Kobojunkie. Trust you're doing good?

Among your 3 key reasons you disagreed it is a sin for a Christian to love making good money, I didn't mean a Christian should make good money from course of the gospel.

What I mean is that a Christian should make good money to support the works of the gospel.

Is this not acceptable?

Again, it is against God to

■ Amass treasures on earth
■ Hold on to careers and properties in the name of God
■ Work for food that perishes

Supporting the works of the gospel is a concept that was created in the minds of men for the benefit of men and has nothing to do with the Kingdom of God. undecided

Hello friends! Can we consider Judas Iscariot as a case study to make sense of this topic?

Remember Judas Iscariot was among the 12 disciples, a minister, and not financial supporter of the gospel. The power to be in charge of the treasury was vested on him by our Lord Jesus Christ.

But according to John 12:4-6, it was recorded that Judas Iscariot was a hypocrite, pretended to care for the poor, whereby he's the thief, wanting more, and eventually betrayed Jesus Christ to achieve his greedy intention.

Conclusively, is it not ideal I'm like Joseph of Arimathea, as it was prophesied, sponsored the burial of our Lord Jesus Christ (the works of the gospel). Matthew 27:57-60, Mark 15:42-64, Luke 23:50-53, John 19:38-42.

If I may ask, should a Christian not love making good money...?

Please, let us contribute to this topical issue.

Joseph of Arimathea was a wealthy man and well respected he might be from a rich family so don't think it's after he became a Christian that he started making money.
Moreover Jesus' burial place is immaterial since he will resurrected and his body won't be there after the third day.
So instead of imitating Joseph of Arimathea who was a disciple in secret {John 19:38 compare to Matthew 10:33} why not imitate Peter, Paul, James, John who were publicly known as zealous preachers and industrious teachers of God's word in their neighborhood? smiley

Brethren, I sincerely appreciate your opinions on this subject matter.

Notwithstanding, there's need for your clarifications to get us convinced enough, if your opinions can be embraced.

The question "If The Love Of Money Is A Sin, Should A Christian Not Love Making Good Money"?

The challenge I'm observing is 'love towards money' and I'm thinking your directions is your wish money shouldn't be existing, neither should it be useful to advance God's kingdom projects.

What about viewing it in this context; the love of money, as Judas Iscariot experienced was borne out of greed, while the love to make 'good money', as recorded in Malachi 3:8-12 is the need for Christians to be blessed abundantly to support the works of the gospel.

Do you think our Lord Jesus Christ's prophecy in Matthew 24:14 is just a mere saying?

Are you not observing all the channels the gospel go through at this end time are big time support from those God is blessing financially; that is those who (love) to make good money to support the gospel?

Anybody can share his or her opinion on this topical issue...

The Commandment is very clear to wit, "LoveGod" and not love money.

As per duties and obligations, God also spelt them out eg, eg do not steal, honour your contracts, give to the poor, do not be an unfair and unjust judge etc

Clearly, any who keeps The Commandments has certainly preached the gospel.
