Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has reportedly visited the Ilorin General Hospital to make cash donations for some patients on admission.

NewsPremises gathered that the Nottingham Forest star was on Thursday, June 8 received by the hospital's Chief Medical Director, Dr Bola Abdulkadir, and was taken to visit the various wards of the hospital, including being introduced to a female cancer patient in need of help.

After he was briefed about the patient Awoniyi was told the woman needed a complete dose of a particular treatment costing N107,000 each, after which he paid for her remaining four doses.

Another patient, who needed N5,000 to receive oxygen for one of her children, received over N100,000 from the former Liverpool forward, who also supported two elderly patients with similar amounts.

In a exclusive interview with Sports Brief Awoniyi disclosed that he would continue to support those in need or who were struggling with poverty.

"Where I am today is by the grace of God and I must give to those who need help in one way or the other, and that was why I went to the hospital. I won't stop helping people who are genuinely in need because I never thought I would be where I am now if not for God," he told Sports Brief.
