It is no longer a new gist that the speaker of Lagos house of assembly Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and his colleagues in the Alausa house are nursing the idea of establishing laws that will protect the rights of indigenes of Lagos. What this means is that indigenes are about to have some exclusive privileged rights as against other Nigerians resident in Lagos. I read that the new law will focus on commerce, property, title etc.

Interestingly, alot of argument have trailed this latest development with many for and others against. The against, have sort to know why such anti peoples law since Nigeria is still a single entity. This school of thought believes that the Obasa law negates the principles of Nigeria constitution which grants all citizens equal right to live freely in any part of the country, do business and own properties.

Some are also asking the legitimacy of the so called law makers since many of them may not even be Lagos indigenes themselves. There are also those who feel that the new law will force many residents of Lagos to sort alternatives such as relocating their families and businesses to other areas of the country thereby shrinking business, development and devaluing properties and standard of living in Lagos state. There also those who believe that the law is targeted at the Igbos.

While I agree with all the above concerns, sincerely I am personally pleased with the new law and pray the Obasa law comes into effect very fast I mean like today. I am Igbo, my interest in the law is as high as those who for the law. I consider the new law as a step in the right direction. For me, it is the best law Lagos will ever make.

I am one of those Igbos who frequent home. I have the tradition of travelling home when ever I feel like and for each time I travel home I end up weeping for the region where I came from and so anything that will force my people back home is a welcome development. The Igbos have become too comfortable in another man's land that they have neglected their ancestral places.

In my purest form I have nothing against Igbos travelling to places and buying properties and owning businesses. But I feel that gesture must stop as far as Nigeria is concerned. In saner climes maybe yes but not in Nigeria. It has not paid off. Igbos have suffered so much for this singular action in Nigeria and enough is enough. The Igbos have been treated with the highest form of disdain even when it is clear they bring developement wherever they find themselves.

But whatever the case may be there is no excuse or consolation for the Igbos. They deserve whatever have befallen them in Nigeria.

Some years ago, late Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu visited Alaba International market, when he saw the heavy investment in alaba market, he wept. He asked a question requesting to know why Igbos came to another man's land to build such big market. Investement amounting to trillions of Nigeria. Painful to know that Ojukwu tears at Alaba did not change a thing. The Igbos even went further to buy and build.

Today, we have Alaba, Aspamda, Ladipo, computer village and many big markets like that all over Lagos. Same way the Igbos have in several places in the North and South. No lesson learnt. Everything is as usual even when there are obvious threats, harassment and intimidation signalling sinister motives to take over what belongs to them.

In Lagos for example, Igbos have continued to buy and build. Go to Banana Island, Parkview estate, Lekki, Ajah, Festac, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Surulere etc and see what Igbos are doing in terms of properties while their region is in near shamble. It is the same way they buy abroad and turning everywhere to their permanent home.

As bad as it sounds, whatever will force Igbos to come to their senses I support it. One Nigeria my foot. Who one Nigeria don help? Instead Igbos have paid heavily for it without any tangible compensation or apology from their attackers.

Obasa must be fast about this law. Next week is too far, today is the best. I don't care about the implication it beholds on Lagos, I am only interested in how Igbos can fully realize themselves and think home.

Well done Obasa.

If you think you have money you don't want to pay rent just buy a land and beuld only three Roms and stay whit your family.

I have a plot of land in Lagos about 10 years ago I wanted to build where I will stay before i leave Nigeria until now I don't even think I will know where is that land

I'm the last person to put my money in another man's land in the name of investment.

There's something called UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES of every policy action, especially when ill-conceived. This may just be the trigger to the restructuring we've been yearning for. States can make it happen real quick, essentially when action vs intentions will be misrepresented by the ever sentimental fellas.

You can't advise Igbos not to buy properties outside their region because most of these money are not pure and they most use it for something

Honestly my brither the OP is damm right..you know initially I was like angry over the bill but later realized its a blessing in disguise I even made it a prayer point last night..let the idiot of a speaker go ahead with the bill and may God purnish his entire tribe if he didn't.
For our Igbo brothers no issues and no need reviling what our people will do but it's just simple...Atleast imagine a lagos that will live with 85 percent of computer village, Alaba intl, Ladipo, Balogun, Mandillas, trade fair, Suru Alaba, all gone...just a tip of the ice berg, as we will be leaving Ogun, oyo too simultaniously...so, lets see how how they will fill the gap.

The more reason they should use the money in their homeland. Other tribes too spend impure money but in their own land.

But 13 % derivatives for the indegenes of oil producing states is right. Lol

Also You sending fulani out of your lands is right but yoruba doing the same to terrorists and non state actors is wrong, lol

Obviously, this election shows most of you are re.tards

you guys are centuries behind us with the way you think, just keep watching, you will surely learn.

Each states has completely different laws in US and that is what is going to happen in Nigeria whether you like it or not. Its already happening sef, but fools like you will not notice until the rests are already gone because you have placed yourselves at the bottom of the food chain.

That’s why you will never see me criticize Obasa’s law.

I want Igbos to go home.

Wont u be happy that Igbos are no longer buying properties in Lagos, so the indigenes can keep their lands?

keep deceiving yourself, you could not sleep last night because of the proposed bill you are yet to see it's contents. It is mouth and arrogance that is causing other tribes and some countries to wake up against the Igbo. What your forefathers have accomplished in the past, the mothern Igbo have destroyed it entirely with arrogance

I have no business with Eze ndigbo or ipob. So because of them you want to pass a useless law?

How will they law differentiate an Igbo and an Ijaw or Edo person?

There was a thread yesterday and people were discussing the extent of how the law will boomerang...as per real estate...but the moderators close the thread.

That shows you they are afraid of the consequence of the fake law.

Imagine the SS pass a law to protect their indigene in the oil companies in their states....? Where will you Yorubas working there go to?

Abi no only una get land and indigenes?

Without other Nigerians and as a former capital...Lagos could just be a laid back city like Contonu.

who is afraid of the consequence of the law, who have opened more thread about the proposing law. Yoruba will have Allies that will be reviewed from time to time and this law will benefit only allies as the case may be. You guys have declared war on Yorubas and there is consequences

The allies that have no numbers...will you get the allies from the north, China, or Togolese?

The allies you treacherously removed one of their own Otiku fisherman... from office, installed a huge failure and also added another one?

You think you are talking to a dunce?

There is no war...Lagos is not heaven.

The only consequence or war that will be permanent is for you to have your own country and let others have theirs...

And then you will have your total peace with your allies cheesy

How is that too difficult?

Again would you know why they closed the innocent thread?

This law is good because it will ensure lgbos think and return home. It will help lgbos bcome more involved in their personal affairs and leave others to manage their affairs.

If all Nigerians are allowed in the Biafra referendum be rest assured that you will have your country. There is no family in my town that do not have family in Ghana or raised in Ghana then, now your people have destroyed the age long relationship date backed to 60 with dirty activities your people are known for

Like Ghana MUST GO started in the SE?

The problem is that must of you from SW argue blindly and with emotion all the time...laced with vile propaganda.

Just like you removed GEJ and now claiming you loved them more than anyone else.

Referendum is legitimate and that's all some people wanted and they are in jail.
