Guinness World Records has finally broken silence regarding Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi‘s 120-hour cook-a-thon.

Chef Dammy took up cooking in Oye-Ekiti on Friday June 9, with the organisers saying she would cook for 120 hours.

Despite the mixed reactions her cooking challenge got in the face of Guinness World Records certifying Hilda Baci’s record on Tuesday, June 13, the lady kept cooking.

On Wednesday morning, Damilola Adeparusi hit her target of 120 hours of cooking amid jubilation from folks and criticisms from others.

Some Nigerians were asking if Chef Dammy followed the right procedure or if she actually wanted to break a world record.

To clear the air, Legit.ng sent a press enquiry to the Guinness World Records on Tuesday, June 13.

A response received from the body maintained that the chef did not seek their approval before beginning the cook-a-thon as there are procedures and rules which would have been sent to her to follow.

Guinness world records said;


“We have not received an application for this attempt. Applications can be made via the Guinness World Records website for our records management team to review.

“Once an application is accepted, the record claimant receives a set of detailed guidelines specific to that record category that must be adhered to.

“This also details a list of evidence that must be submitted for our team to verify the record. Guinness World Records maintains a rigorous review process to maintain the integrity of each Guinness World Records title.”

I have a feeling this just want to catch cruise not wanting to break any record. When you look closely you will see the whole process is shabby done. When good luck to her there's no harm in trying to achieve a feat

In a nutshell, the whole process was an Exercise in futility and chef dammy is clearly a middlesome interloper.

In my opinion, what chef dammy did was wrong. She didn't even allow Hilda Baci to get the title before she started her own. Anyways, she has gotten what she deserved 🤣🤣

Wahala,I watched a video showing an Instagram live feed of this chef dami cook -a-thon and the video was funny,the cooking arena was empty and someone was snoring heavily on the background.

My opinion, she can only be corrected to wait for proper timing next time. Honestly, ages free to attempt the record even though her fellow country woman just did. It has been done in china before that timing was ignored. But timing is good.
So those criticizing her should chill.
Lastly, it no good as she no notify Guinness World Record. In all, she don catch fame. If you ll see her social media pages now, thousands go don dey follow her.

She did the right thing at the right time. Visibility she seek. Visibility she got. I pray she utilize it well.
