Gambling has now become a menace being perpetrated by elders in our society.

And the annoying part is the rate at which some women now gamble is shocking and shameful to say the least.

Marriage is not the reason for their gambling and it is unfair that we usually don't take responsibilities for our actions and always find something to hide under.

It is neither wise nor unwise. There are plenty of people who like gambling, who love casinos, who are completely responsible adults financially and gamble for purely recreational reasons. There are plenty of people who are degenerate gamblers who would risk savings and children’s education fee or even their own (Master degree) on some absurd “sure thing” that they are convinced can’t fail, and does.

My brother, for example, loves to gamble, but only in cards and sports. He is a mathematician by training and vocation, and a jock. In cards, he constantly analyzes the odds of certain cards coming up, and he always has a stop-loss when he plays. He adheres to that religiously. It is very low.

In sports betting he relies on his athletic skills to determine favorability of one team over another. He also uses stop-losses.

My mother, on the other hand, plays slots. It relaxes her. She has a set amount of money she will lose, like my brother, and when she does she is finished.

If either describes the man you want to marry, then you have nothing to worry about.

If, on the other hand, you want to marry someone who recklessly plays every cash he makes, or who is obsessed with gambling, then you need to avoid that person like the plague especially if you don’t seek professional help. Even with professional help, it is a huge struggle for you and your significant other, and also your entire family.

The partner who gambles also lies, steals the money from his spouse, from work, family members and friends. They take big loans from loan apps which they can’t repay so easy. They get depressed and neglect their home and entire family. They only think how to get the money for gambling / for feeding their addiction.

Nobody else doesn’t exist, only money for gambling and the casino. They don’t have the money to pay their bills, food, doctors, childrens needs etc., so that burden is placed on the spouse to struggle with it alone.

For some time, the spouse will actually try to help his partner to abandon and conquer his addiction, but only for some time. The spouse will be supportive, forgiving and understanding. But if he/she don’t see any results, it is best to leave the addict and so they do it.

Why would that person have to suffer also? Many have had to leave their partner who are hardcore gambling addict after years of struggling to help them overcome.

I was loosing my money, health and sanity. Leaving him was the best thing I did for myself

...Gamblers also get married. Many of the married gamblers around you started gambling while they were single. Marriage is not an antidote for gambling.
