A LOCAL chief (name withheld) has been linked to series of kidnap in Edo State and environs, some of which have even led to death.

The police yesterday confirmed to The Guardian that the said local chief who was recently linked to the kidnap of a son of his rival who is yet to be released, is on the wanted list of police. "We are looking for him to answer some questions relating to cases of kidnap in the state," Ejiroro Ahwara, acting spokesman for the state police command said yesterday.

The police said it was looking for the chief following arrest of some suspected kidnappers who were said to have been linked to him and the recovery of arms and ammunition in his palace.

The five suspects who were said to have operated in police and army uniforms were arrested in the palace of the local chief although they denied involvement in the alleged crime.

The police said the suspected kidnappers: Shammah Ovwiemedaye, Osasumwen Imade, Obodo Oduware, Friday Edosuyi and Uyi Edoglaware were apprehended during a raid by the police in the palace.
