An experience I had on my way to work last week reminded me of this life lesson.

Anyone who lives in Lagos Nigeria, and hits the streets, knows that the spirit of Lagos also includes hustling for almost every dang thing.

I don't have a car, and I use public transportation in my daily commute to work. This commute usually entails being sharp - you can't afford to be habitually slow if you want to get to your destination on time.

On that morning last week, I was the first to arrive at the nearest stop by my home to get a vehicle for the first leg of my trip to the major road.

An older woman and a secondary school student showed up next.

There was only one space in the 1st tricycle that stopped by - the woman rushed in. 😒

The next tricycle to stop by also had only one space left. The student shuffled in with a sense of urgency. 🙄

I wasn't bothered, for whatever reason. I just knew that whatever the time may be - however long the wait - I was going to get to my workplace.

After a while of waiting - an SUV stopped in front of me. 😅 It turned out to be to be 2 friends of mine who happened to be driving by the area.

I got in of course, and it turned out to be a pleasant + comfy ride to work, with energizing convo (cutting off the 2nd stop I would have taken by public transportation, and the additional fare).

When I "missed out" on the 2 tricycles - I couldn't understand why I wasn't bothered (as I'm typically unmoved by a lot of things nowadays). I just knew I'll be fine.

But I couldn't have imagined how pleasant my commute would turn out that morning.

So, whatever your current situation, just believe: You. Will. Be. Fine.

Each day, pause and reflect on lessons and positive reminders you get. And remember to stay real & true to your positive values.

Keep walking.
