From a biblical perspective, the Bible never used the word "stupid" or "stupidity," but the various writers of the scriptures did talk about foolishness. King Solomon, in particular, had a great deal to say about fools. In his mind & in the minds of the other biblical writers, a fool was someone who knew the truth, yet lived his life contrary to it in the unfounded hope that somehow, he could defy the odds & become the first human being to prosper by ignoring the obvious. Solomon often spoke about the fool in the pages of Proverbs, but James, the brother of Jesus, probably summarized the fool best in James 1:24-24 (NIV).
Supidity (or foolishness), of course, is the opposite of wisdom. Everything that wisdom is, stupidity isn't. And everything that wisdom isn't, stupidity is. Stupid is as stupid does. A "stupid" person is a person who lacks intelligence, or common sense. His actions violate his goals. He looks truth in the face & yet rejects it.
