So What Has Tinubu Achieved? A Fair Critique! by Validated: 11:26am On Jun 18, 2023
So, someone asked me what my governor has achieved in the last 3 weeks as compared to Tinubu's achievement. So, I started to think and here is my reply.

My state is Delta, which is PDP controlled. In my state, we do not consider appointments as achievements, we do not applaud sacking old hands and replacing them as achievement. We only applaud actions that positively impact people's lives, future and wellbeing. Those applauding signing of Bill's and making new appointments are only celebrating mediocrity.

So, let us take a critical look at what Tinubu, has he achieved in 3 weeks that his followers are celebrating?

Before I proceed, I would ask NL mod to read my posts and not apply bias banning button as usual for topics against Tinubu

Let's start with student loans act. I call it
"Student loan without hope" because nobody is qualified to access the loan as passed.
Which family still earns less than N500k in Nigeria and also pays tax to be able to get TCC? None, because with such salary, you do not pay tax? So, nothing changed as no Nigerian can access the loan. I know you may not comprehend. Go and study the act, only those whose family income are below N500k are eligible. For such family to exist, the father and mother would each earn about N21k per month. That is below minimum wage and such peope do not pay taxes.

Second is floating Naira ... which country do you know that floats her currency? Travel, you people won't. No country has dollar market as we do in Nigeria. Brazil, Russia, India, China and SA (BRICS) are looking to hold their currencies against the $, we are here praising the one swallowing IMF pills, hook, line and stinkers, plus the fisherman's boot. The naira will keep on weakening because we are an import dependent nation and our balance of trade is permanently negative. Meaning, we spend more $$ than we earn. Even our president that ought to get treatment in Aso Rock clinic is going to boost France economy with his medical tourism , probably every 3 weeks interval.

Petrol subsidy removal? Hahaha! You guys knows nothing about economics. I know you are buying petrol now at N510, that is old stock now. Wait when the next imported stock comes, you will pay N800. That is in a couple of months from now. The knee-jerk decisions were to excite you, but you know what, your suffering just began. A well planned approach would have ensure atleast 50% local production before removal of subsidy. As it stand, with $$ at N760, if you buy petrol next two months at N510, just know Tinubu paid subsidy for it

Sacking CBN governor, so? Has that helped your Naira that has now depreciated by 50%?
Was that not expected? The man was there from Jonathan to Buhari to Tinubu. Has he not tried? Let's try other people, so nothing new here. Afteral, all Buhari's ministers have also left office.

You people fell upon one another that stock market was boosted. How? Because you gained 10% in Naira terms and lose 50% in $$ terms? Ask Dangote and Bua how much they lost in $$ terms, about $10billion. When we are singing praises, we should think them through. Ask, what changed?

Some even praised the list if 43 items not qualified for forex as achievement. How? Those have always been there under Emefiele now. I was hoping that Tinubu would expand it to include artificial, non-value adding items like medical tourism, estacodes, foreign legal and administrative payments, etc. Duh, he knows those will affect him and his entourage.

Lastly, you do not know that with the signed student loan, comes tuition fees, that was free before Tinubu? O! You never read that the loan is to help you pay tuition? You borrow if ever you qualify, you pay tuition, you graduate, then no job. You cannot payback. Tinubu will throw you, your guarantors into jail.

So, my friends, lets stop applauding appoinments, signing of bills. Buhari signed more bills than GEJ and Yardua put together. Where did it take us? These are signs of celebration of mediocrity.

So far, Tinubu has achieved absolutely NOTHING!!!

@ OP kindly tell us what your farther has achieved since he birthed you.

I wonder why mod has allowed you to run amok with insulting post on the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

What does a government need to succeed if not a constructive criticism from opposition? But when you go about insulting, hating and abusing the government in power for no reason, then you becomes enemy of the state, a terrorist that should be treated as one

Please, where did I insult anyone? If any, you are the one calling my father names here!

This is a simple critique. Disprove my points paragraph by paragraph and stop calling mod. This is an educative forum.

Tell me what I do not know. Not calling on mod, for what offense

Tinubu's main moves thus far are meant to put his government in the good books of our serial lenders IMF and WB. They desire that five subsidies go away.
They are :
Education(gone)
Petrol(gone)
Forex(gone)
Fertilizer(alive)
Electricity(alive)

Tinubu is only positioning his govt for some immediate savings and future borrowings. The IMF and WB, and lenders know the key to reversing our fortune economically is production(robust one) and that we are no where near that level of preparedness for competitive production so they offer us seemingly easy options that will entrap us further.
I see almost no achievement in all of Tinubu's major moves so far.

A very good analysis so to speak.

An objective analysis should be the tool for performance assessment but some persons think otherwise and gratify mediocrity.

I really wonder what they stand to enjoy.

1. Fuel subsidy is removed and you will buy fuel for 500 to 900naira per liter (depending on the exchange rate). The savings will be looted like that of kerosene and diesel. There will be no commensurate succor/ palliative for your suffering. Instead of going after the subsidy thieves and stopping the smuggling across boarders, they have transferred the responsibility to the helpless Nigerian people.

2. Naira has been devalued (though they call it floating). The FG has handed over the exchange to the market forces where speculators and banks are king. Naira continues to fall in the I/E and parallel market. Anybody who tells you Naira will appreciate is a joker, for a corrupt country like ours, the banks and speculators are the new cabal and will drive the rates how they deem fit. Don’t believe…. Just observe. What most don’t get now is that CBN now has no obligation to provide FX at a particular rate to the market, a such the new FG players can access FX from CBN without noise.

3. FG funding for tertiary education has been removed. Students will pay upwards of 400K tuition fee starting next session. A lot of students will drop out and cannot complete their education anymore. The so-called student loan will be almost impossible for an average student without connection to access. Guess what happens to the savings from this funding…. To b looted by the same people who have impoverished the nation.

4. All the FG has done so far is abandon almost all responsibilities it has over the people through the bills being signed since May 29. All Tinubu has done is to make available funds to be shared by him and his goons at the expense of the people. Not a single bill or action aimed at ameliorating the suffering of the already downcast Nigerian people rather adding to the pain in the guise of elitist policies

5. Guess what…. Same old political criminals are back in power, Gbaja, Akume, Asari Dokubo etc and you expect any real change apart from increased suffering?. How do you expect Tinubu to pay back the these same criminals who supported him into power?

PEPT will re-tabulate the result. Tinubu will only get 6m. However, let's face the topic. Not election results

Do not derail the thread, because that is you guy's stock in trade, when your president is exposed

I couldn't have said it better. Whether it's inadequate education that's making his supporters mischievous or it is Stockholm syndrome, I can't tell. Who doesn't want PBAT to succeed? It's the failure to critic policies, or call them out, that made the experienced economic disasters of 2015 - 2023. Now, another group has started with praise singing while their families grind themselves just to survive the reality. The student loan is the most devilish policy. Eyes will clear soon when FG stop giving schools subvention.

PS. Dangote has been issued licence to import fuel after the phony commissioning. Another cabalyzed system about to be created. NNPC that has been privatised surreptitiously set the current price template. Tribalism will be the end of this country
