Why is alaba market so disorganized and Lagos state government is not doing anything about it?

Everywhere should be demolished so lasg can build an ultra modern market and collect tax money electronically.

No hard feeling but that’s how I feel about that place. That place doesn’t befit Lagos as a commercial state.

100% supported, most of the buildings where not built for shops, they're old residential building that were converted to shops and stalls. Some of the buildings are over 70yrs and haven't been renovated.

Maybe you guys need to know the history of the place called Alaba international market. That place was started and supported by a group of individuals right from 1979 when most of you on this forum were not born. Other people joined over the years, purchasing lands and building structures, to make up what you hear of today

It's very unfortunate that most of you fellows hear of Alaba international market, but have never and will never be there

Your suggestion of building an ultra modern market in a place where properties are 100% privately owned sounds very funny. Ojo local government is one of the richest, not only in Lagos State, but the entire federation. The local government with the humongous amounts collected as revenue from the area, has not been able to fix the major road. The Oba and agberos gave not been able to influence the local government to fix the road. What you see there largely is self help.

There is another adjoining place called Alaba rago. That's on the Badagry highway. That's where you find the slums and northerners. Because you do not have the faintest idea of the area, you do not know that government needs to do something about the dangerous state of the environment there.

Residential buildings remain as they are except they have warehouses under them. Plazas and shops are clearly where they are with no dispute over them.

Where you call old residential buildings were built either by the traders themselves or the Aworis, who did not sell the lands that they were built on.

If you want to know about Alaba market, get your transport fare, get there and ask from the traders and Aworis there

Exactly what Ikpeazu did in Ariaria Aba. You can see how clueless SW governors are. Instead of projects that will empower locals you are busy signing off everywhere to Chinese, Indians, Lebanese, and telling local hustlers to go back to village. Continue losing commercial advantage to the East
