GCK DRAMA, DAY 1
Mr Jude, a believer who was the Accountant of a company was told by the Manager, Mr Okafor to sign a document with an over-bloated figure. He asked whether it was a mistake but he was assured that the boss deliberately wrote the figure so. Mr Okafor concluded by saying that it is just an administrative lie.
Mr Jude refused to sign the document, saying a lie is a lie.
PASTOR W F KUMUYI:
"When you are working with someone, a director, manager or an employer, and he demands that this is what he wants, if it is contrary to the will of God, you have to take your stand. That is when we know who is a believer and who is not. At such a time, I pray you will stand".
Mr Jude's wife tried to convince him to sign the document. She said after all, he would not share of the money and more so, that is part of what he is being paid for - to sign financial documents.
Mr Jude shouted "Unbelievable! Are you suggesting that I sign falsified documents?"
His wife said, "The Bible says, wisdom is profitable to direct".
Mr Jude said, "Exactly why God's wisdom directs me not to sign the falsified figures!"
PASTOR W F KUMUYI:
"The test, trial, and temptation will come, there will be solicitations to do evil, but there we declare our stand".
Mr Okafor called Mr Jude and reminded him of the documents to be signed, because the Boss needs it in the next one hour. He insisted on not signing it and Mr Okafor said he would report back to the boss.
Mr Jude left. He was sacked. He got home and handed the letter to his wife who accused him of opening wide his eyes and losing his job.
Mr Jude said is it not better than losing heaven? But the wife reminded him of pending bills to pay in the family. She also added that he should remember that the Bible says the man who is not able to take care of his family is worse than an infidel!
Mr Jude said, "Rachel, I have just been sacked today, just today! You wait and see if God will not come through for us".
The wife said, "When? Do you know how difficult it is to get a job now?" Mr Jude said it will not take long, but for sure, he cannot compromise. His wife flung the letter at him and walked out of the room.
PASTOR W F KUMUYI: "Whatever happens or does not happen, whatever the threat, trial, or temptation, we must earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints".
Sitting in front of the boss, Mr Okafor agreed with him that Mr Jude is very stubborn and he would have personally signed the documents had he the capacity to do so. He said, "Is it not to just sign a document? What is in signing a document, especially one that one will benefit from? I'm also a Parish Pastor, so, what is the big deal?"
PASTOR W F KUMUYI: "They profess that they know God, but in works, they deny Him. In their behavior, character, secret and private policies and practices, they deny Him".
The boss also played along and said, "What is there, just to sign a paper, and when the money comes, all of us will share the extra". Mr Okafor agreed.
The Boss called Mr Jude on phone to come back to the office. Me Okafor said he has been sacked, but an envelope was handed over to him.
He opened it and shouted, "Sacked? Jesus Christ! Oga, what is it?" He went on his knees.
The boss said all he has been doing was just a test, following instructions. "We need the light and faithful people in this company. To say the truth, I may not be a devoted Christian, the CEO may not also be a devoted Christian, but this company needs the light, someone who can be trusted, and you are not one".
Mr Okafor said he is light and that the Bible says that the light shineth in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it. He said he was only acting, based on the boss's instruction. He was just giving honour to whom it is due. He started begging.
The boss said, "You are a shame to Christendom".
Mr Jude came into the office. The boss stood for him and the manager quickly stood up from his kneeling position.
The boss told Mr Jude that the company just opened a new branch in Canada and he has been promoted to head that branch.
Mr Jude said, "Sir, I have just been sacked, I have the letter with me..."
The boss told him not to worry about that. He congratulated, shook and gave him his letter for the new appointment. He turned to the Manager and told him to ensure that he hands over all company documents and properties in his care to Mr Jude who was surprised and asked what happened.
The boss told him that he has been sacked and was no longer a staff of the company.
Mr Jude turned to Mr Okafor and asked what happened, to which he replied, "The result of compromise. I'm ashamed of myself". He congratulated Mr Jude who replied, "To be a light, you have to unlearn some things.
PASTOR W F KUMUYI:
"Compromise, corruption, and all the things the world is pushing to us so we have overcome, we say No to the world in Jesus name. We will stand, hold fast the true, pure and total gospel the Lord has given us, we will keep it to the final day in Jesus name.
"I pray the Lord will give everyone of you the spirit of the conqueror, you will be more than a conqueror, and everyday the blessing of God will be multipled in your life".

• 2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
• 3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
• 4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
• 5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
• 6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
• 7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
OPENING REMARK
We thank the Lord for the session we are in now in our GCK for June, and I pray that God will bless you, lift you up and make you the kind of minister that you ought to be in Jesus name. He has a purpose for you, your calling and for bringing you here, and it will be fulfilled in Jesus name. Whatever He wants done in your life, He will do and accomplish.
INTRODUCTION
As we begin our Ministers Conference this morning, we want to have an introduction to the great things God has planned to do. These are the last days and He will repeat what He did in the 1st century of the Christian church and He will so empower, energize and equip us that we will go forth and preach the word and it will have the same effect and outcome as that of the previous years. I pray you will make yourself available to preach, minister and serve the Lord, and He will do in your ministry what He has never done in your calling before in Jesus name.
Today, we are looking at the message titled RECOVERING THE LOST AXE HEAD FOR LIFE AND MINISTRY. That is, the Church recovering what she used to have but lost. The Church recovering power, passion that has been lost for our lives and ministry. The power and effectiveness your local church used to have, or as it was with some denominations that used to be fiery and fervent, and the power and productivity is no longer there. Lastly, for individuals. Look at how many years you have been in ministry, and you knew the effect of the call upon your life. When you started the journey, how the Spirit of God used to move you like He moved Samson, but we see now that the higher you got, the cooler it has become.
The Lord is saying that the challenges of these days is more than what you had in the past and you ought to give yourself to Him and determine to recover whatever you have lost, and there will be a recovery and restoration of all you have lost in Jesus name.

As everyone here was involved in expanding the ministry that God had given them, we must also unite with the people of God in expanding the work of the kingdom. While the people are doing the work of expansion, the leader must also show willingness, zeal, and passion to partake in the work. As a leader, it is the consistency and passion in doing what you say you will do that makes you the man God has called you to be. In recovering the lost axe head, God does the divine, supernatural part while you do the natural; it is a combination of the supreme God of heaven and His submissive servant here on earth.
1. THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF THE MAN OF GOD
2 Kings 6:1-6a.
(i) The Conversion and Call of Recoverers – 1 Kings 19:13-16, 19-21; 2
Kings 3:11; 1 Timothy 6:1 1-14; Matthew 11:28-30. “And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.” (1 Kings 19:13-14). Whenever you are feeling intimidated, you need to ask yourself the question the Lord is asking you: ‘What doest thou here?’ “So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.” (1 Kings 19:19-21). The people who are going to be used by God must understand that the language that may mean discouragement for other people should propel them instead. Elisha had the call, commitment, and conversion and he became a servant of the prophet Elijah. “But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.” (2 Kings 3:11). Elisha served Elijah faithfully until he became a prominent prophet himself; always think about your calling and what God has given you to do, and don’t belittle whatever you are doing in the kingdom. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). As a minister, you must learn by observing, reading, dedicating yourself, and then you will be able to do what you learn. ‘When we are yoked to the Lord and other colleagues in ministry, we can plough, pull, push, and grow the kingdom together the way God wants it to grow’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi).
(ii) The Commission and Consecration of Restorers – 1 Kings 19:16;
Isaiah 58:11-14; Matthew 17:11; 1 Kings 18:37-39. “And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.” (1 Kings 19:16). The commission of Elisha was to replace Elijah in everything. ‘Our calling is to restore the glory of God, the people’s allegiance to God, the commitment of individuals, families, and nations to
God, and to call the backslidden back to God’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi). “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” (Isaiah 58:11-2). Our commission includes God refreshing us when we are dreary, and it appears everything is dried up around us. “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.” (Matthew 17:11). Just as Elisha’s commission was to restore the people’s faith in God, faithfulness to God, serviceableness unto God, and their confidence in God, you are also commissioned to be a restorer of the church’s lost faith and the word of full salvation.
(iii) The Conviction and Confession of the Recoverable – 2 Kings 6:5; Job 42:2; Luke 18:27; Acts 3:19-21. “But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.” (2 Kings 6:5). The servant cried out to Elisha because he had the conviction that the axe head was recoverable if Elisha prayed. If you have the conviction that everything lost in your life will come back again, it will come back in Jesus Name. “I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.” (Job 42:2). You must have the conviction that the God of heaven, the God of all power, the God of redemption can do all things in your life. “And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:27). Things we may find impossible with men - restoration, revival, and recovery - are possible with God.
2. THE LINK WITH THE MIRACULOUS THROUGH THE
MINISTRATION OF THE GODLY
2 Kings 6:3-4.
“And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.” (2 Kings 6:3). The link with the miraculous is very important. Never despise any opportunity that shows up during your service to God.
(i) The Petition for Companionship with the Master – 2 Kings 6:3-5; Numbers 14:39-45; John 15:4-5; Exodus 33: 15-17. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5). For us to bear fruit and fulfil our calling, we must abide in Christ as Saviour, Sanctifier, Baptiser in the Holy Ghost and as our Master who is always in control. Whatever you are envisaging to do in the kingdom, the link to the supernatural must always be in your life.
(ii) The Power of the Cross for Miracles – 2 Kings 6:6; Exodus 15:23-26; Colossians 2:13-15; 1 Peter 2:24. “And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.” (2 Kings 6:6). The stick cut down and thrown in the river is a picture of the cross, the tree on which Christ was to die. “And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:23, 25-26). ‘As you emphasise the Cross of Christ in your life, whatever is bitter in your life will become sweet. You cannot sweeten the bitter experiences in life by yourself, but when you look to the tree on which the Saviour died for you and bring it into your situation, everything will become sweet’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi). “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24). It is because of the tree on which Christ died that we are healed today.
(iii) The Possibilities of Christ In, By, Through Me – John 14:10-14; Galatians 2:20; 1 John 4:4; Mark 9:23. “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:10-14). With Christ abiding in us, He promises that we can do the works He did and even do greater works. “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
(Galatians 2:20). ‘As the Father lives in the Son, and every work that the Son did was done by the Father that dwelt in him, the work that we believers and ministers do today is not done by us but by Christ who lives in us’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi). “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4). “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23). If you can believe that He that dwell in you is greater than he that is in the world, all things will be possible unto you.
3. THE LEARNING FOR MASTERY BY MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL
2 Kings 6:1-7.
‘You must keep learning for mastery even after all your exploits in the kingdom; don’t be satisfied until the promises of the word are fulfilled in your life and ministry’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi).
(i) The Making and Living of the Sons of God – John 1:12; Romans 8:1416; Philippians 2:14-16; 1 John 3:1-3. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12). At conversion, with repentance and faith in Christ, we become the sons of God. As we believe that Christ died for us, He gives us the power, privilege, and potential of the sons of God. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14). As Christ lives and abides in us, He makes His presence known and confirms to us that we are sons of God. “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” (Philippians 2:14-15). As sons of God, He is always present with us to direct us and lead us into the path of righteousness. “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:1-3).
(ii) The Moulding and Learning of the Servants of God – Titus 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:10; Hebrews 3:5; Revelation 15:3. After we become the sons of God, there should be a passion in us to want to serve God by serving the body of Christ and by serving the citizens of the kingdom. “Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;” (Titus 1:1-3). As servants of God, the preaching of the saving gospel is committed unto us. “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1 Corinthians 15:10). ‘Grace made us the sons of God, and the same abounding, abundant, moulding, and mentoring grace makes us the servants of God’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi). “And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.” (Revelation 15:3). Moses was faithful in all that the Lord called him to do as His servant, and in heaven they sang his song. This is proof that Moses eventually made heaven as a servant of God.
(iii) The Ministration of Love by the Stewards of God – 1 Corinthians 4:1-2; 13: 1-3, 13; 1 Thessalonians 3: 12-13; Hebrews 6: 10-12. “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:1-2). ‘Whatever we do, we must minister in love; we don’t condemn or criticise the people. Whatever we do out of anger, criticism or malice will not be rewarded by God. We have to minister in love if we are stewards of God’ (Pastor (Dr) W.F Kumuyi). “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 13). If there is no love, there is no light or lifting. Heaven evaluates us and our ministry with love. If we have lost the axe head of love, we need to pray for its restoration. Pray that everything we have lost like the axe head of power, faith, passion, and the desire to preach the gospel, the Lord will restore unto us in Jesus Name.
