Best paying medical and healthcare jobs in Nigeria

Working in healthcare in Nigeria not only offers good job opportunities, but it also pays well. It’s one of the few fields where you can secure a job right after graduation and earn a salary that’s higher than the minimum wage. While a medical career may not make you super rich, it will provide enough money to cover your bills and essential needs.

In addition to doctors and nurses, there are many other important roles in the medical field that people often overlook. And guess what? These professionals also earn salaries that exceed the national minimum wage. Although their starting pay may not be sky-high, it tends to increase as they gain experience. How much they earn depends on where they work. Those employed in federal government hospitals or healthcare facilities generally enjoy higher salaries compared to their counterparts in state government, local government, or private hospitals.

Many healthcare professions are well-paid. Among them, below are the top 10:

1. Doctors/Physicians

Doctors are highly respected and esteemed professionals in the healthcare industry. They are like the “big guns” in hospitals, playing a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients. Without doctors, it would be difficult for patients to recover from their illnesses.

A doctor’s main responsibilities involve diagnosing illnesses and providing appropriate treatments. They order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and some even perform surgeries or other procedures to help their patients get better.

When it comes to earnings, doctors are the highest paid professionals in healthcare. On average, they earn around N225,000 per month, but many doctors earn even more. Consultants, who specialize in specific medical fields, tend to have higher salaries, starting at least around N500,000 per month.
