There are a few reasons why people might deceive themselves into thinking they speak in tongues while praying.

* **Peer pressure.** In some Christian circles, speaking in tongues is seen as a sign of spiritual maturity or closeness to God. This can create pressure on people to feel like they need to speak in tongues, even if they don't really believe they are.
* **A desire for spiritual experience.** Some people may be drawn to the idea of speaking in tongues because they believe it will give them a more powerful or intimate spiritual experience. They may be hoping for a feeling of ecstasy or a sense of being closer to God.
* **A lack of understanding of what speaking in tongues is.** The Bible does not give a clear definition of speaking in tongues, and there is some disagreement among Christians about what it means. This can lead to confusion and misunderstanding, which can make it easier for people to deceive themselves into thinking they are speaking in tongues when they are not.

It is important to note that not everyone who believes they are speaking in tongues is being deceptive. Some people may genuinely believe that they are speaking in a language they do not understand, and they may even be able to interpret what they are saying. However, it is also important to be aware of the potential for self-deception, and to be critical of our own experiences.

If you are wondering if you are speaking in tongues, there are a few things you can do to check yourself. First, ask yourself if you are truly convinced that you are speaking in a language you do not understand. If you are not sure, it is probably best to err on the side of caution and assume that you are not speaking in tongues.

Second, ask someone who is familiar with speaking in tongues to listen to you and give you their opinion. If they believe that you are speaking in tongues, then you can be more confident that you are not deceiving yourself.

Finally, pray and ask God to give you guidance. If God truly wants you to speak in tongues, He will give you the gift. But if He does not, then you should be content with that. There are many other ways to experience God's presence and power.

Facts you hide behind a screen to speak up about? You claim you are a pastor so why not speak face to face with your fellow pastors whom you have a problem in this with? Again, does it have to do with you yourself not having evidence of the Truth of God in you? undecided

My mistake! I thought you meant you were a pastor. undecided

2. But wait..! According to God, everyone in His Special Nation of Priests are all supposed to be Priests, with none greater than the other. So, I hope you also scrutinize every word you hear against that spoken from the mouth of God Himself. undecided
