Over 2 decades ago, a christian student schooling in Kaduna, was accused of blasphemyby his fellow student, who is a Northern Muslim due to jealousy and hatred. They had disagreements in campus countlessly over nothing. But this christian boy refused to be bullied. So one day off campus, the Muslim student saw this christian boy and confronted him.
He promised to kill him, but the christian boy called him bluff.
He immediately raised alarm that the christian boy had blasphemed against the holy prophet. He grabbed the christian student and shouted. His shouting attracted other Muslim faithfuls who rushed to the scene.
He told them the christian boy just blasphemed against the holy prophet, and he was swearing Walai Talai. Anger and rage immediately enveloped the atmosphere. Daggers were drawn, sticks, and other dangerous weapons. Meanwhile the christian boy was trying to explain, but no one cared to listen. His voice was too lonely. They have started beating him. The angry mob had taken over the place when suddenly, some military patrol vehicles appeared at the scene from nowhere to rescue the boy. They had to shoot countless bullets on the air, just to drive away the angry mob. Nobody cared to ask the christian student his own side of the story. Nobody gave him a chance to explain himself. But they all descended on him without proof or verifiable evidence that he blasphemed. Simply because it was a fellow Muslim that said so.

This begs for my earlier questions.

What is blasphemy?
How is it committed?
Is it through words, or through actions?
Who reports a blasphemous act, when it is committed?
Who verifies when a blasphemous act has been committed?
What is the required punishment for blasphemy?
Military investigation later exonerated the christian boy of blasphemy, but no action was taken against the Muslim boy, due to some high level connections.
The christian boy had to leave Kaduna State entirely, for his own safety. Doing so, cost him his education & years of study He came back to the South, to start university all over again, after wasting 4 years in Kaduna, because a fellow student out of hatred & jealousy lied against him. Just to get him killed.
He finally graduated, & joined the military. He is today, one of Nigeria's finest officers.

My thoughts :

The Muslim leaders must speak out against this barbaric way of killing people. Only a court of law should determine what is blasphemous or not. But the so called Northern politicians would only say, blasphemy is blasphemy and its a crime. 🤔😡. They are the reason we are growing backward in this country. 😡

So speaking against laid down principles that has been established and revered for decades could be taken as BLASPHEMY.

Staying in the north for over 20 years

One of the best tin to do is to identify the Muslims who are not extremist and u will enjoy your stay

Once u identify an extremist Muslim, do you best to avoid conversation with them, if you must communicate. Avoid religious talks because they would always want to prove religious superiority . Just nod your head and leave.

Because any utterance can lead to another tin.
Especially in a extremist Muslim predominant area.

For those who know Kaduna, places like rigasa, tudun wada, hayin banki and co will definitely get u killed for such utterance

But places like sabo, gonigoara, maraba rido and co would not have any effect

So be mindful of your environment and Ur utterances

This could lead to murder and mayhem if the religious are ignorant or greedy enough.
