As fragile as an incubated baby
Your survival muddled in a cloak
Of stern hospitality
An obnoxious parenting, gyratory
Around the whispers of demagogic delusion
Then, a plethora of gybe to a mottled future
Yet in that stark oblivion
They nurtured you to perfection

Like a tender lily upon the hills and valleys
With obstreperous pebbles in the wind
They were the inevitable Achilles heel in the offing
And like the gibberellins – the inhibitors
Against your growth in surreptitious mien
Yet you greened not whithered

As unperturbed as a statuesque
Enduring the excruciating lam from the opposition
But like an epitome of spry intuition
You skidded while they were languishing
As the indisputable power of fate
Plunged you to the reign in the echelon

You were accompanied by a providential leverage
Professed by the peripatetic of the people
Like a plenipotentiary in plenitude of pleasantries
The toddlers, the teens cum the adults
Enough to convert the most skeptical
That your choice transcended man’s façade of intellectualism
But the singular sanctimonious conduit
For Ebonyi’s divine restoration

Your perspicacity flourished amidst
All malevolence orchestrated to sully your reputation
Such abhorrent abracadabra hardly writhed
The profundity of your perspicuity
Of the tormentors of Ebonyi people

Thank heavens you weren’t a proselyte
You unfurled the scroll of their mystified worship
To sponge the unpardonable malfeasances of the demi gods
And punctiliously enshrine into it
The sanctity of the Almighty God
So this prodigy gripped the mandate tenaciously
With the grit devoid of any pusillanimous trait
You started without any probationary aberration
And the ubiquity of your whooping transformational strides
Has left even the dummies thunderstruck

Like an irrepressible advocacy for change
As regenerative regimental onslaught
The surroundings of Abakaliki bloomed audaciously
Yet you vowed you’d not be an ombudsman
You retorted: ‘let the clenchy fangs of posterity
Grind those in schandenfreude’

Conscientiously, you pummeled the preposterous
Dereliction of the infrastructures
A consequence of the desuetude of public fund
While the fulfilled people are immersed
In multiferous felicitations as you trod
On the teeniest despicable despondency
That begrudged their greatness


As a canopy of elegant fatherhood
The planetarium in which no roguishness thrives
For their labyrinthine connotation over governance
And the unsuspecting people are sold dummy
While the one – upmanship soars
But you’ve belligerently beleaguered this bad omen
As you repudiated sloppiness
Until Ebonyi people regain to the fullest their lost freedom

Oh! The souls which sojourned in dungeon
And amassed the filthiness of its death
Can perspire oncemore in the refreshing
Wind of your ruthless sincerity
Freedom is sweet! Freedom is sweet!
As you lambaste the lameness
Lamentably their ploy to perpetually slowpoke
The people’s psyche

Governor Dave, you’ll forever be the meritorious souvenir
As you salvage the people from the interminable
Peremptory abasement of their respectable dignity
And together we abnegate them that swore
To exterminate the people’s expostulate
For their murderous despotism

The deplorable roads recuperation seemingly conspicuous
An indubitable evidence of your propitious and prophylactic touch
For the healing of the people’s destroyed ego
And the insanity in the transport system
You’ve painstakingly curbed like sedatives

With inestimable vigour, you cultivate the soil to the farmers’ delight
Ravishing the eaters’ table with bounteous edibles
And the intransigent starvation crucifying the people’s bond
Would be apprehended by your utterly
Resourceful doggedness to ouster
The deprivation like a depository upon the people

This governor is simply unquantifiable
A panache for the incurable decay on the health system
Raising with audacity porch hospitals
Even for the people with quack health centres
Mesmerizing the despots that preached it’s unattainable

With humane and generosity, you also add the salt
To the schools – from primary to tertiary
The people once mused, tagged artless and unlearned
Becoming the cynosures of the east
And no more, you bravely vowed
To condone any derogatory postulations of your beloved Ebonyians!

What more?
Governor extraordinaire!
The east is more enchanted
The nation is applauding
And the world stands still
To your performances yet unmatched!
