Gas is the future. In another 10 Years, Gas would have effectively replace fuel as the mainstay source of fuel.
Gas is so versatile because its way cleaner than petrol and diesel and more eco-friendly. It's also very suitable for power generation.
It's the only hydrocarbon source of energy than can thrive in an Era of renewable energy.
Nigeria has the largest gas deposit in Africa. Imo state has the largest gas field in Nigeria and west Africa.

If the government of Imo state can exercise patience and manage the revenue that is coming, they will progress massively. The world is moving away from crude oil with speed. To solve the energy problem of Nigeria, Nigeria need large and Imo will become so influential in making this possible.

Imo State oil and gas management agency, ISOPADEC, should propose a new law to define how much the state will get and how much goes to the federal government. I don't know why states that produce gas haven't drafted a new sharing formula yet. This should be a priority.

Since they don't want to restructure the country for everyone to control their resources and pay taxes to the centre, nobody should accept a meagre 13% from the federal government as gas sales sharing formula.

I would not want my IMO economic growth to be dependent on a natural resources

IMO state government need to create economic zones in orlu, egbema, and okigwe zones plus Ngokpala
Most importantly supply them with GAS!!!!! That's the koko... Anyone can build factory n power it with gas

The create a made in IMO brand... To use that on your product... It must meet certain QA/QC standards... So people would know once a product has made in IMO it's of the highest quality n finest finishing ... Massively promote made in IMO across Africa n the world as a sign if high quality

Implement a housing tax of 15% the rental value of the property... Use that to improve the infrastructure of the state

Hotels pay 10% of their room rate at 40% occupancy rate flat... Every hotel gets 2 years grace from the day it opens

From the two tax reforms 600 billion csn easier br generated but worse case 250 billion yearly that's 300 million dollars not bad for a start

My brother, forget tax. There is a reason SE governors don't put emphasis on tax. With all the so-called tax generated in Ogun state, its infrastructure is still in terrible state. Aba has far better roads than what you will find in Sango Ota and Agbara.

They can even tax companies in Lagos and Ogun because majority of the owners are either foreigners or from other states. So, instead of repatriating every profit, the government there uses tax to get a small percentage. However, most companies in the East are owned by our people. We don't need to tax them arbitrarily.

A state like Imo with huge oil and gas deposits already has enough funds for government to work with. Create enabling environment and our people will invest and the money stays in our region.

The reason they can't push for tax is simple they were not popular candidates... Soludo is doing it

When you steal mandate you would be scared to tax the people

Second is they don't know what exactly to do with the taxes... You and me know u can never steal tax of ndigbo and go free

Tax is the only way to grow an economy not natural resources

I think tax and resources should be used to better the state. You can't depend on tax to grow economy, it doesn't work.

Every developed nation use tax... There is a reason people tax... It's not just money

It unites the people
It get then involved in governance and hold the people elected accountable

Canada has oil but don't really earn as much as they should from it

Tax build a nation

Buildings is enough tax... As long as you rent out your building you should pay 15% of that revenue to government... If it's personal use 7.5% of rental value

If u are found lying your house is personal when it's rented... Fine would be 50% of the market value of the house as determined by government

IMO owerri, okigwe and orlu have at least 300,000 rented houses ... If the average is 1,500,000 per year..... That's 67billion generated

U know how many streets 67 billion would fix in owerri orlu n okigwe?
Multiple the effect in 10 years

Government would have incentive to develop new neighborhood so people would build more and pay more tax... That's what drives development

you don't tax in a business environment that is not lucrative for investors yet.
Calm down on this your tax thing and let investors come first

You are not taxing business u are taxing buildings

There is no serious country without housing tax... Truth is tax is cheaper for the citizens no matter how u look at it

15% of the rent you collect as tax won't kill the landlord
