Asari Dokubo To Collect One Million Signatures For FG To Begin Secession Of Igbo by Ibrahimcoomasie: 9:19pm On Jul 07, 2023 |
After meeting Tinubu, Asari Dokubo to collect one million signatures for FG to begin secession of Igbos from Nigeria. Although Article 2 of the constitution is against secession, Mr Dokubo argued that it would serve as a cleansing action of the entire country. Former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo says he will lead a march supporting the Igbos’ bid to secede from Nigeria with over a million signatories from Nigerians across the country to the National Assembly. He made the remarks in an Instagram video recorded and shared by Koikimedia via its Twitter handle on Thursday. “Please, President Ahmed Tinubu, I am going to write to the signatories of over one million people all over Nigeria and march to the National Assembly to allow the Igbos to go,” stated Mr Dokubo in the video, which had over 58,000 views. Mr Dokubo’s remarks came after a recent visit to Mr Tinubu in Abuja, where he told reporters that freeing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), would be equal to rewarding criminality. In the video, the former Niger Delta militant urged Mr Tinubu and the National Assembly to ensure a constitutional amendment for the smooth exit of the Igbos. “We do not even need a referendum,” said Mr Dokubo. “The president should meet the National Assembly, and somebody courageous enough to sponsor a bill at the National Assembly, there should be a constitutional amendment to allow the Igbos to go.” Dele Alake, the president’s spokesman, did not respond to Peoples Gazette’s request for comments on the matter. Although Article 2 of the constitution is against secession, Mr Dokubo argued that it would serve as a cleansing action of the entire country. There was no immediate response from Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the House of Representatives spokeswoman, Khadija Abba, when contacted to react to Mr Dokubo’s call for Igbo secession. Mr Dokubo, who described the Igbos as the “real aggressors” claiming to be “victims”, said they could secede and make Mr Kanu their “messiah.” The ex-militant stressed that the agitation for Biafra was too much for Nigeria to bear. He warned that if the Igbos leave, they won’t have the chance to freely enter Nigeria any longer, especially towards the southern corridor. He said letting the Igbos secede would be the biggest favour to the black race worldwide, and Mr Tinubu will go down as one of the best presidents the world has ever seen. Mr Dokubo said there “would no longer be Alaba Market, computer market, and Ladipo Market,” adding, “Let the Igbos go.” “Any product they have, if they want to fly it, they should fly it anywhere. But we will not allow them to pass the Ijaw territory and our coastline from Santababara to the new Calabar River,” the Nigerian leader’s ally stated further. “Let the Igbos go, no shooting, no killing, no nothing whether it is sympathetic Igbo or moderate Igbo, all of them let them go with all their pipelines and the small cup of oil they produce; we cut it off, give them their own and no problem.” https://gazettengr.com/after-meeting-tinubu-asari-dokubo-to-collect-one-million-signatures-for-fg-to-begin-secession-of-igbos-from-nigeria/ 8 Likes

let the Igbos goooo. let Biafrans go. Is it by force to stay in a failed country. We don't want. 95% of igbos does not want to be Nigerian. Let them go...the SE and other SS Igbos, North Central igbos that wants to join them...let them go. If their Cross River/Akwaibom Brothers and sisters wants to join them, let them go. I am not a fan of Asari but there is sense in this his stupidity. 22 Likes 5 Shares |

ChatterHouse:Unity Beggar. I dare all Nigerian politicians to approve referendum for Igbos. The result of Secession to Remaining in Nigeria will be 99:1 in percentage. Many morons don't know Igbos sef. Igbos have an inherent attitude to separate from any oppressor irrespective of whatever consequences you remind them. To Igbos, to dare is to do. Igbos do not care all these bruhahaha. They are patiently waiting for the referendum opportunity. Problem is that all these are mere mouths. No Nigerian politician have had the courage to give Igbos referendum. Their fear is well known. Igbos are the only courageous tribe asking for secession but many tribes wish same. The difference is simply that Igbos are more courageous to demand what they want. The day Igbos will separate from this country will mark the end of Nigeria. Even Yorubas will demand the same. Forget all these nonesense you see and hear over the internet. Let us have the referendum for Christs sake. Can we? The Niger Deltans can go their way for all we care. All we want is to be in charge of our security, our economy and our own government. Nigerian government should please listen to this Asari fat pig and conduct a referendum. I am ready to sign that petition. Let them go enough is enough! We will help them draw their Igbo map properly but if they don't need our help, they can use the map of Lesotho as a template. You will see them now saying that they won't go without the people they claim to be their brothers in other regions. Asari don dash ona the biafra so don't drag your feet any longer. 7 Likes |

It will set a bad precedent. If you let the Igbo go, the Yoruba will also demand for their nation. The middle belt will also follow suit. At the end of the day, there will be no Nigeria. 8 Likes |

Oyaoooooo. See opportunity. Abeg, all east states, make em go. Thing be say easterners will not live in their new country. The ones in Lagos, delta, and all states in south will not go. The ones currently living in d east, live there cos of presence of government and security agencies. Once these agencies leave, 70% of Igbo's living in d east will relocate to south and west. They will claim to be deltans, cos we share names. We may end up over stretching our resources and infrastructure in d south. See asaba alone as case study. Since 2016, the population almost doubled 4 Likes |

EmmaJnr1: Same sentiments here! And by Igbos’ leaving this shithole, it should mean all Igbo willing to leave! My people in Rivers state for instance wouldn’t want to stay behind after Ndigbo leave to continue answering Nigerian with the Fulani, Yoruba or Ijaw! I’d pay good money to look into the future and see if the Yoruba will continue ‘one Nigeria’ with their Fulani friends/partners after we’ve left! 3 Likes 1 Share |

I'll personally meet Asari and shake his hands passionately for pushing this motion, God knows the biggest gift Nigeria will give to us is to allow us go, let's just go with our "wahala". Whatever becomes of us in a Nigerian-free destination, then let it be so. I stand with Asari on this, let us go 7 Likes 1 Share |

Asari Dokubo is an illiterate and often speaks like one. Any intelligent person who studies the map of Nigeria will realise that you cannot consider the separation of Igbos without balkanizing the country's geographical setting in the Southern region. Only way the Igbos can easily secede is if they're joined by States in the South South. And we all know that's literally impossible. So make una rest! 1 Like |
