The Mmesoma scandal or Mmesomagate as some now call it has come and not exactly gone away. A young 19 year old girl who scored 249 in Jamb magically gave herself a score of 362 emerging the "best student" in the exam. As most of us already know, 249 is not exactly a bad score and would get into most universities, so she did not need to cheat.

However, she did not only decided to cheat but she decided she had to go to an extent where the entire country should give her recognition for what she clearly did not deserve. She could have asked for a score of 320 and may be she could have had it unnoticed. However, she chose to rub everyone else off recognition including the real best student who studied day and night to get a result 360.

Right from the time she showed her result slip, it was obvious her result were forged. Anyone who had a child that wrote Jamb this year or even last year would know that this result format had been discontinued. But her tribes people led by Mrs Oby Ezekwesili stood up to defend her and insinuated that Jamb (led by a Yoruba man) was pursuing an ethic agenda forgetting that Jamb recognised another Anambra indigene as the authentic highest scorer. Did they think about how the girl who scored the highest score would feel seeing a fraud like Mmesoma get the recognition she deserved? Did Oby and her cohorts recognise that the rightful winner was also from Anambra State?

People turned this into an ethnic thing and decided to support a fraud because the perpetrator was from their tribe. How did we get here? So if a politician steals money, then we defend him because he is from "my tribe"? How will Mmesoma and others not repeat this as they had their whole tribe defending her. How will she know what she did was actually condemnable and deserving of a prison sentence when she has 20million people from her tribe ready to defend her?

How did we get here as a nation? The politicians has really taken away our brains and our hearts.

JAMB should prosecute that girl.

The law is law and it is blind to wrongdoings.

Those who painted ethic colouration to it are irredeemably stupid.

Every sane mind would have called for proper investigation - something Anambra State did and unraveled the truth.

I agree with everything you have written. She should not be spared. Those that painted ethnic colouration to this have been doing so for a long time. To them everything is political and must be viewed as such. No wonder people only see through ethnic lenses.

Common sense is no longer common. I will only vote my tribe no matter how useless the man/woman is. No wonder some.people now attack everyone that has a different opinion from there's. No wonder people are not even allowed to freely think but must bow to the threats of a headless mob who constitute a small minority but believe they have the loudest voice. No wonder people are being threatened because they did not vote for a candidate from one tribe.
