If you own the building you can wear whatever you like

If you don't own the building you must follow the host's laws regarding his house

When politics is involved that's the time to pick on what people does!

Chief Ọbáfẹ́mi Awólọ́wọ̀ entered the mosque in Ìlọrin (Kwara State) during dedication of that mosque (with his shoes on) after the ceremony some political Muslims picked on that to incite the voters against him so his attention was called to what happened that very day.

What was Awólọ́wọ̀'s reply?
He said the King of Mecca was at the same venue that day and he also entered without removing his footwear so if a highly respected Muslim like the King of Mecca should enter without his footwear why picking on his own who doesn't even know the rules of the religion?

So in a nutshell Awólọ́wọ̀ was looking at the King of Mecca as the model but does the King of Mecca needs the votes of anyone to continue being the King of Mecca?

Certainly not, so it's because Awólọ́wọ̀ needs their votes that's why he was accused!
