While Threads has garnered significant attention and amassed millions of sign-ups within hours, it falls short in several key areas when compared to the established social media giant. This article explores the 9 reasons why Twitter is better than Threads, highlighting the reasons why Twitter remains the preferred choice for many users.

1. Editing Functionality
Twitter has responded to user demands by introducing tweet editing capabilities for premium users. Threads, on the other hand, currently lacks the ability to edit posts once published. Users of Threads must either delete their posts or create new ones to make changes. Although Threads may incorporate post editing in the future, Twitter already offers this sought-after feature.

2. Accessibility and Browsing Options
While Twitter provides users with the flexibility to access its platform through any web browser, Threads solely exists as a mobile application. Threads does not offer a web version, and its official website, Threads.net, merely redirects users to download the app. Twitter’s availability across platforms gives it an edge over Threads in terms of accessibility.

3. Direct Messaging (DM) Functionality
Threads lacks a direct messaging (DM) feature, preventing users from privately communicating with each other. The absence of DM capabilities aligns with Threads’ focus on enhanced user privacy through end-to-end encryption. In contrast, Twitter provides users with the option to privately connect and engage through direct messaging.

4. Hashtag Integration
One noticeable difference between the two platforms is the absence of hashtags on Threads. While Twitter and other Meta-owned platforms utilize hashtags for categorization and discoverability, Threads does not currently support this feature. However, it is expected that Threads will adopt hashtags, similar to other Meta platforms, in the future.

5. Alt Text Customization
Threads lacks the option for users to customize the alt text for images and videos shared on the platform. Instead, it relies on computer-generated alt text, which can pose challenges for visually impaired users who rely on screen readers. Twitter and several other social media platforms allow users to provide descriptive alt text, ensuring greater accessibility.
