This is really disheartening.
How can we all focus on the Oil in Niger-Delta why we allow some individuals mine our mineral resources without restrain.
I don't just trust the northern Governors on this.
Why is Governor Sule acting like he's helpless.
Tired of this country already.

Obviously we lack the capacity to exploit and develop lithium by ourself. We also don't now anything about the lithium value chain to even say we want to set up lithium extraction mining process.

But why can't we enter agreement with this Chinese to develop the lithium here in naija. They can export part of the finished product if they want to but they shouldn't be allowed to export raw lithium ore out of this country.

Do we really need genius in government to know this?

How much will the Chinese bribe u for that will make a govt official sacrifice the whole future of a nation on some wads of dollars...how much?

To effectively derail this thread, just mention IPOB or add IGBO whatever in your comment, and it's done,

We cannot absolve state actors from all this , it's clear state govts are in cahoots with all these Chinese miners because the miners always have police protection when they move around

Don't be surprised that government are strongly behind these illegal miners.
If you listen to Governor Sule's comment, he said most of the miners get backing (police /soldiers) from Abuja.

Don't be surprised that the minister of mines and steal is a major shareholder in these illegal mining activities.

Money changed hands and the Chinese are acting out their end of the deal. It surely isn't their citizens doing the dirty work of digging pits. They, however, are the bosses in charge of operations.

Government only shout illegal minning, they re looking for avenue to chop, government dnt support the locals and dnt give loans, Chinese support locals , register their companies get consent letters and get mining lease or license and you say they re into illegal minning, every thing about federal and state government is only how to loot and enrich themselves when it involves the poor it illegal, when American government released grants for miners in Nigeria during obj about 200m usd , I personally applied, Oby ezekwesili wanted the right thing to be done, she did some reforms and gave criterias of whom will get the grants, every one was happy, suddenly people in the govt wanted to loot the money , she refused and fought them consequently she was changed to another ministry and deziane mmadueke stepped in as minister of solid minerals and that was the end of the money, trust Nigerian govt at your peril,no state or federal govt has any processing plant, no renting of equipments to local miners, no chemical testing laboratory, only plateau state use to try in all these before, but now individuals have taken over, they only tin processing plant in Jos has collapsed, what has federal and state govt ever done to support local miners? Just like Ebonyi state government put tax on local miners at 1million for each truck of solid minerals , no support of whatsoever to the local miners, roads to the mines, no equipments was leased to them, no security, no soft loans, no common chemical laboratories, no conductive environment of business, only interested in 1million tax, welcome to nigeria
