Most of us that are looking for true love do not even have the love in ourselves that is why we keep looking for it. If you love yourself, you will care not if another person loves you or not.

The flip side is, when you truly love yourself, that is when people are drawn to love you.

If you understand true love as true responsibility, then the confusion dies off.

But if you understand true love as those strong intense feelings derived by the thought of a person, then you will always meet people that give you that vibe.

I can tell you for free that I can love hundred people at the same time. That's if your understanding of love is the second paragraph. In fact, any fine, attractive, young girl is already my love. I am a simple man.

But the one that I can be responsible towards in the traditional sense, is the one that I love, and vice versa. So any woman that gives me the female version of love, then I believe she loves me.

True love cannot exist without trust. And nowadays, you cannot trust anyone 100%.

What you see in most films/novels is lust. The couple is physically attracted to each other, knows almost nothing about each other, but has an instant and strong desire to get together on a physical level(sex).

Lust happens all the time; you see someone attractive and you want to get with them. Whether or not it turns out to be mutual is just dumb luck.

Love is something else entirely. Love is choice and commitment. Love grows from friendship and a desire to just be with someone. True love is the choice to make that happen long term while overcoming the obstacles that occur when two people try to coexist with each other.

There’s no magical formula there. It’s chemistry and choices.

Lust is a combination of physical attraction, hormonal levels and pheromone reaction. It’s the mating impulse of every animal in existence. In some animals there’s not even a mating ritual before reacting to it (the male just forces it on the female). In civilized society (and with some well behaved animals) there is at least an element of courting involved and at least with human society there’s typically laws that require consent as well. But the impulse exists (or there wouldn’t need to be rape laws in place to remind idiots to get consent).

Once you comprehend lust you find that love is simply evolved friendship. Whether or not lust is also present in the relationship is somewhat a side issue.

“True love” ? Romantic love? Idealistic terms often misused by misguided people that either don’t understand relationships or overused as short-hand tropes in entertainment to make fast-casual-relationships appear more deep than they really are.

So yes, true love exists. It’s the choice to commit to a partner and form a lifelong friendship and enjoy each others existence. If you also happen to lust after each other, the connection is just that much deeper.

But one should be aware that lust comes and goes, it can be as vapid as the hormonal changes our bodies experience over time. Love? Is a choice; and one that should not be made unless you are willing to ride the tide of hormones along with every other aspect of life and health and sickness and desire that is “being human”.

So yes, true love exists; the term is just often used incorrectly and confused with lust.

I have it, for one person. She is not perfect but she could do no wrong in my eyes. Just satisfied with what she has, willing to lay down my life for her. That's what true love translates to for me. The fact that you can overlook all flaws and remain as passionate about someone. It means you cannot be distracted by someone with better characteristics

You find beauty in whatever they do and even though you are physically attracted to them, your affection is not influenced by their appearance. Wanting the best for them and seeing a future with them

Remembering their milestones. True love is also enduring them at their worst eg when they are bedridden and can't care for themselves

I am obviously speaking from experience but don't wish you were me. The lady in question never loved back

There is true love, but I guess we are somewhat opportunistic as nigerians so some of us might not experience love. but there is and it's beautiful

bro, you gotta be a man. There is true love, but it doesn't come to those looking for it, it goes to where it can be appreciated. Love yourself first, be dominant and assertive, don't be needy.
