The duration of Pigs pregnancy is about 115 days. That is about 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. When it is close to time of birthing Piglets, the Pregnant Pig is Isolated in a separate Cage. Away from other Pigs. This is to protect the Piglets from getting harmed by older Pigs. This will also allow the mother fully breastfeed the baby Pigs well. At some point, the Piglets are separated from their mother. They will re-unite with their mother for breasteeding at intervals. During the breastfeeding, the smaller Piglets are allowed to suck the breast first. Before the bigger ones are later allowed to suck. This special place for birthing Pigs is created and meant to isolate the Piglets. so that. The Piglets wont be harmed by older Pigs after birth. |
